Gloomy Mire is the fifth area in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is unlocked after the Terrorforming Geboa makes off with the Hocotate ship's main body in the Primoridal Pit. It is connected to the same landmass holding the Thicket of Nourishment, and resembles a swampland in the southern United States of America.
It is split in two parts; the landing site is a glistening body of water located in a sunny forest outcropping. Massive trees and bamboo stalks surround the playing field and lily pads flow freely in the small body. Blue Pikmin are found turning over freshwater mussel shells surrounding their Onion, while an Elongated Mockiwi wades through the estuary enviornment. Going under a natural arch of low hanging branches and trees leads to the area that gives the Gloomy Mire its name; a miserable swampland almost pitch-black in lighting. Black cypress trees are choked by the murky water, and puddles of natural acid and tar dot the dry land. It is so suffocatingly dark in this area that Common Glowcaps and Phosbats are capable of existing in the morning. Its associated challenge mode stage is Intercoastal Copse.

Trivia
- The area's continental shape resembles that of Florida. Despite this, it is actually based off of Corolla, North Carolina: the site of the creator's favorite vacation of all time.
