The Broodmother Bulblax is a species of Grub-dog infected by mold originating from a sporovid family member appearing in Pikmin Evolution, its the infected form of a fully gown Empress Bulblax. It is turquoise in color with a slightly more bloated body than the normal empress, with large clumps of green mold bursting through parts of its sides. The Broodmother Bulblax is similar in behavior to the standard Empress Bulblax, breed a stream of larva while rolling over and crushing anyone that attacks it with its large body. However instead of spawning normal Bulborb Larva, the Broodmother Bulblax spawns Moldy Bulborb Larva. The hide of the Broodmother Bulblax is too thick for most attacks to piece and damage it, so instead the Pikmin have to attack the clumps of mold coming out of its body, with each side having three clumps each. This is a dangerous proposition as your often required to attack the front lines and be at the mercy of the Empress' rolling attack. Luckily there are geysers you can use to quickly dart from one side of the arena to the next, however getting to these geysers could prove to be tricky due to the chaos caused by the Broodmother's rolling. The Broodmother is also dangerous due to the fact that when it rolls it will spread sticky mold from its body and paint it all over the floor, making navigation trickier, and when it rolls over a Moldy Bulborb Larva that Larva will scatter a layer of hazardous toxic green mold to worry about, so if you don't use Roach Pikmin to regurally clean the battlefield you can be quickly overwhelmed. It's body is too thick to be affected by acid, however it still shares most moldy enemies weaknesses to water, as that will quickly clean the mold on the battlefield making navigation easier when the Broodmother performs its rolling move. However the Broodmother has a secret partner, its mate the Deposed Bulblax, these two despite being zombies seems to have some affection for one another and are always seen in the same areas, with one always being nearby the other. If the Deposed Bulblax is defeated first the Broodmother Bulblax will be enraged and gain new, more potent attacks. First the Broodmother Bulblax will now scatter mold clumps on top of the geysers needed to go from one side of the arena to the other when it rolls, meaning you need to unclog them to navigate the arena easier. It will also cause Toxcaps to fall from the sky when it hits a wall during a rolling move, which create deadly obstacles as unlike the Larva is spawns the Toxcaps will bury themselves underground when the Broodmother tries to roll over them before popping back out. However the deadliest attack the Broodmother Bulblax has is its ability to slam the ground with its head, causing balls of gloom to fall down and create shockwaves, which instantly kills even Roach Pikmin. This one attack becomes even deadlier with the Moldy Bulborb Larva it spawns, which are now faster due now as well. This makes the enraged Broodmother Bulblax one of the most dangerous creatures in the game thanks to these factors, however when fought normally, if you have a steady supply of blue syrups the fight won't be much of an issue. Like all bosses the Broodmother Bulblax drops a piece of refuse upon defeat, often to compliment the one dropped by the Deposed Bulblax, emphasizing their link with one another.
