The Ancient Wetland is the fourth area in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator. It is a wetland similar to the Distant Spring and Perplexing Pool areas from Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, respectively. However, this place is larger, damper, and deeper. Your ship lands where you landed long ago in the Distant Spring. If you head in the opposite direction of the water and into the back area you can follow the path through the dry land, tree trunks, and sand to reach the Quicksand Temple. The Green Pikmin are located in one of the hollowed tree stumps here. If you instead decide to head into the water, you'll have to be careful of flowing channels of water that could suck your Pikmin away. The right passages past the flowing channels of water will lead you back to dry land in a blue-tiled area. Up here you can lower quite a bit of the water level, forming a path your other Pikmin can use to follow you up to the tiled area and enter the Aqua Labyrinth. Past the large sandy mesa where you landed in the Perplexing Pool lies the pathway to the wilder, meandering distances of the area. In the wilderness of the swamp, you may find the entrance to the Dead Man's Trench if you can figure out the pattern of how it shifts its location. Search around the bottom of the somewhat drained lake and in one of the remaining bits of water you'll find a hidden channel that you must navigate with Blue Pikmin. Have one party travel through here and the other build the bridge at the top of the sandy mesa to open the dual route to the Dark Wetland Cave located at the ancient stone structure in the middle of the swamp.
