As the creature moves, it leaves a trail of [[Lubricant|oil]] that makes Pikmin slip and slide when they walk on it. When approached, the creature also occasionally gushes out a shower of oil drops from the top of its shell to splatter on the ground, leaving small puddles; Pikmin will start to drown if an oil drop lands on them, even [[Blue Pikmin]]. The Amphoric Greasponge's entire shell is oozing with oil which makes it too slick for most Pikmin to attack, but [[Spike Pikmin|Burr Pikmin]] can easily grab onto it.
