They’re Here is a Pikmin fanfiction created by Star Shaun. It tells the story of the Parasitic Pikmin making their way to Hocotate and causing havoc.
Day 1 – Back Home
Captain Olimar and President Shacho finally arrive back on Hocotate after having to make a U-turn to save Louie.
Shacho: “Now we can finally repay the debt. Now the loan sharks won't break my kneecaps.”
Olimar: “And now I can go home and spend time with my family.”
Shacho: “Yeah, I think everyone deserves a day off after this nightmare of an expedition.”
Olimar: “Did you see that strange Pikmin type?”
Shacho: “Uhhhhh... No?”
Olimar: “Well, Louie and I discovered some Pikmin that look like bulborbs. Apparently, they were bulborbs that were infected by some strange parasite thing.”
Shacho: “Wow. That planet is full of surprises.”
Olimar: “Yeah. Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow, boss.”
Shacho: “Have a good night.”
Olimar leaves to go back to his house, leaving Shacho to close up. Shacho walks up to the Hocotate ship and starts pounding on the door of the hull.
Shacho: “Alright, Louie, wake up. It’s time to go home. Get out here.”
He hears a light tapping on the door in response.
Shacho: “Louie, I’m not in the mood for your games!”
He swings the door open, only to find Louie fast asleep.
Shacho: “What the blazes?”
He walks up to Louie and shakes him.
Louie: “Huh? What? Get away from me! Tony, get 'em!”
Shacho: “Louie! Louie! It’s me! Your boss! It’s time to go home. We’re back on Hocotate.”
Louie: “Oh thank goodness. I thought you were a bulborb trying to eat me in my sleep.”
Shacho: “But who is Tony?”
Louie: “He’s my buddy who’s been hanging out with me inside here during the trip back.”
Shacho: “Where is he?”
Louie: “Uh... Tony? Where’d you go?”
Shacho: “Louie, I think you’re losing your mind again.”
Louie: “Who dares to deny the existence of Tony? He will come for you, boss!”
Shacho: “...Just get out of the hull.”
Louie: “Fine.”
Louie started walking down the road back to his house when he spotted something.
Louie: “Oh! Hey, Tony. I finally found you.”
Day 2 – The Discovery
Olimar and Louie arrive at work.
Shacho: “Welcome back, guys. Olimar, I need you to deliver some carrots to Koppai.”
Olimar: “On it.”
Shacho: “And Louie, since Olimar is using the Hocotate ship at the moment, uh... Make yourself useful.”
Shacho headed to his office to handle some phone calls.
Louie then walks to the side of the building and shuts off the power.
Shacho: “For the last time, you need to pay 750 pokos for us to deliver the crates to you! We’re not doing this for free, you know. How else are we gonna– Hey! Don’t hang up on me!”
He sees Louie standing at his door.
Shacho: “Louie... what are you doing? Get back to work.”
Louie does not reply, and just starts walking forward.
Shacho: “Hey, pal. I will suspend you without pay if you don’t stop this.”
Louie grabs Shacho’s arm to prevent him from escaping. Then, a figure walks into the room.
A Pikmin. But not a known type, one that was never fully documented before. It had a nose-like appendage like a Red Pikmin, and its color was black as charcoal, almost shadow-like.
Shacho: “Is... Is that Tony?”
Louie nods his head, and Shacho notices a leaf growing out of Louie’s head. Tony then splits into two Shadow Pikmin, and the clone walks towards Shacho, grabs his arm, and then he and the Shadow Pikmin begin to fuse into one.
Olimar finally comes back from delivering the carrots to Koppai, oblivious to what's happening inside the office. He walks into the building.
Olimar: “I’m back from my trip, boss, what else do you want me to–”
Everyone in the office turns to Olimar, including the newly infected Shacho. Olimar runs out of the building while Tony and the zombified Louie and Shacho chase him from behind. Olimar climbed into the Hocotate ship and launched into space in a desperate attempt to escape them.
Olimar: “Oh...! I brought one of those parasites back to Hocotate. What am I gonna do?!”
Olimar heads back down to Hocotate, landing in front of his house. He opens the door and is greeted by his family.
Son: “Dad! How come you’re back so early?”
Olimar: “Hey, kiddo! How about you go upstairs and play with your sister? I have to talk to your mother.”
Son: “Aw, man...”
Wife: “What’s happening, Olimar?
Olimar: “So... Um... I don’t really know how to explain this, but there’s some sort of alien outbreak going on.”
Wife: “Are you joking? Are we in some sort of 1950's monster movie?”
Olimar: “I swear on my life I am not lying. I must’ve brought them to Hocotate by accident.”
Wife: “Oh dear. What will we do to protect ourselves?”
Olimar: “Just keep the doors locked, and don’t let the kids outside, or anyone inside the house.”
Wife: “Where are you going?”
Olimar: “I caused this mess, I need to stop it.”
Wife: “Okay. Be careful out there.”
Olimar: “I will.”
Olimar leaves the house.
Day 3 – The Search
Olimar recruited five scientists, Lukas, Andy, Ronald, Stephen, and Newman. They all met at a laboratory.
Andy: “So what is our main goal?”
Olimar: “We have to contain the parasitic creature nicknamed Tony.”
Lukas: “How will we do that?”
Olimar: “Since there are six of us, we should split up into three groups of two. Everyone, take these nets.”
Everyone takes a net, and the group disperses to find the parasite.
Andy and Stephen were roaming the streets of the neighborhood when they heard some rustling in a nearby bush.
Stephen: “Get your net ready.”
A small dog emerges from the bushes and runs toward the duo.
Stephen: “Oh! He’s so cute! Who’s a good boy?”
Andy: “Don’t touch him. He could be one of those parasites in disguise.”
Stephen jumps back, and the dog runs back into the bush.
Andy: “What a red herring that was.”
Stephen: “How does this thing spread?”
Andy: “Olimar saw one of the creatures fusing with his boss.”
Stephen: “That sounds terrifying.”
The duo then heard a yelp, and then the dog ran back out and past them.
Andy: “What’s happening over there?”
They ran into the bushes and found Louie swinging a large stick around.
Stephen: “He has the leaf! Get him!”
Louie fought back, striking Stephen in the head. Andy kicks Louie in the stomach, making him fall to the ground, and was given an extra punch to the head to make sure he wouldn’t get back up.
Andy: “You alright?”
Stephen: “Holy jeez! My life flashed before my eyes.”
Andy: “I think you’ll be alright. We need to get this guy back to the lab.”
Louie wakes up to find himself in a chamber. Olimar and the scientists watched Louie and studied his erratic behavior.
Ronald: “Wow, this parasite is strange.”
Andy: “Apparently, the parasite is not friendly towards other life forms.”
Stephen: “I had to learn that the hard way.”
Lukas: “Let’s put something in there and see what happens.”
Newman then placed a large insect inside the chamber, and Louie’s first instinct was to stomp it to death.
Stephen: “That could’ve been me!”
Then the power goes out.
Newman: “What just happened?”
Stephen: “Stupid weather.”
Andy: “It is nice outside. Someone deliberately shut off the lights.”
Olimar: “Oh no, I think I know what that means.”
The scientists then heard some strange noises from inside the room.
Stephen: “IT’S IN HERE!”
Everyone scrambled to catch Tony in pitch-black darkness, sustaining multiple injuries in the process.
“IT’S FUSING WITH MY SKIN!”
Olimar: “Who was that?”
Andy: “Got him!”
Olimar: “Someone go switch the power back on!”
The lights come back, revealing Tony who is finally neutralized. Everyone claps.
Olimar: “We’re not out of the woods yet. We still need to find Shacho, and someone in here was infected.”
Everyone nervously looks at each other, not knowing who to trust anymore.
Olimar: “We need to figure it out fast. We can’t have someone releasing Tony.”
Day 4 – Who is Who
Everyone stayed up the whole night to guard the chamber door. Olimar would just sit at a desk, thinking and thinking.
Olimar: “Yes... Yes! Okay, I got it!”
Andy: “What?”
Olimar locks the door to the room.
Olimar: “From what I saw on that distant planet, the creatures on there, including Pikmin, do not bleed when injured, or probably don’t have blood at all. We can attempt to take a sample of everyone’s blood.
Olimar then unpacks a box of syringes.
Olimar: “If the syringe fills up successfully, then the person is not infected.”
Olimar then uses one of the syringes to extract blood from his arm. The syringe fills up, proving that he is not infected.
Olimar: “Stephen, you’re up.”
Olimar gets a fresh syringe from the box. Stephen flinched when the syringe entered his arm. The syringe fills up with his blood.
Olimar: “Stephen is clear, Andy next.”
Olimar gets another syringe. Again, the syringe fills up successfully.
Lukas: “Are you sure that this experiment is working?”
Olimar: “I’m positive that this is foolproof. Anyways, you’re next.”
The syringe fills with blood.
Stephen: “How have we not run into the infected one yet?”
Olimar: “I’m not sure. Ronald is next.”
Lukas: “This might not be as foolproof as we thought.”
Olimar struggles to pull the syringe back. There is nothing there. Everyone gasps.
Lukas: “I guess I spoke too soon.”
The leaf grows out of Ronald’s head, and he begins to fight everyone.
Stephen: “Get him in the chamber!”
Everyone pushes Ronald into the chamber with Tony and the infected.
Andy: “That was wild.”
Olimar: “Now it’s Newman that’s left.”
The syringe fills with blood.
Newman: “Thank goodness.”
Then, everyone hears multiple bangs on the door. Olimar opens the door to find Shacho. He looked completely normal.
Shacho: “I’m back.”
Olimar: “What happened? I thought I saw you getting infected!”
Shacho: “I think the parasite dies a few days after infection.”
Andy: “That is a relief!”
They hear banging on the chamber door.
Louie: “Hey! Let me out of here! What is happening?”
They open the door and see Louie is also back to normal.
Louie: “Tony fused with my arm, and then I blacked out, and then I woke up here!”
Tony, who is restrained, realizes that his army is no more. He lets out one final screech and melts away.
Olimar: “Well, I guess this whole thing is over with now that the source is gone.”
Andy: “We still got Ronald.”
Olimar: “Now that we know the infection is temporary, we’ll just have to wait it out.”
Olimar walks back to his house and knocks on the door.
Wife: “Who is it?”
Olimar: “It’s me, Olimar. The outbreak is over now.”
The door is opened, and Olimar’s son runs up to him.
Son: “Hey dad! Mom told me about what you were doing. Did you fight any big scary aliens?”
Olimar: “Yep, I sure did.”
Son: “You wanna go outside and play catch?”
Olimar: “Sure.”
