The Spiny Scatterpod is a species of scatterweed appearing in Pikmin: Spark. They are a large, rotund cactus with multiple flowering pods of reds and yellows. Dwelling in deserts, they are weeds that drain the surrounding area of water, meaning Burgeoning Spiderworts can not grow there. To protect itself from those intruding on its territory, it rapidly scatters needles onto the ground that not only impale targets but also act as walls to prevent the target from escaping. When its target is trapped, it lobs an explosive seed pod onto them to finish them off. As a tip of the precaution, bring Rock Pikmin to destroy the crystal-like spines and Goo Pikmin to deal with the explosive pods.

Notes

Abel's medical journal

Oddly, the needles are mineral deposits that can be combined with the pods to form a strong medicine. It has enough vitamins for a Jirite to survive for a week.

Lyn's sale review

These plodding plants add a splash of color to your summer decor. Just be careful not to trigger the defense mechanisms so you won't get blasted by cactus seeds.

PIX's creature scan

Needles consist of minerals absorbed by the plant's roots. Pods contain muscles that can bind together to sling these needles off. This makes the inside of the pods soft and malleable.
