The Skitterpeel is a species of skitterling appearing in Pikmin Rebirth. They have a small, yellow, waxy appearance and have three legs ending in large suction cups. They appear in the tropics, digging into the ground to eat the seeds underneath. Often they can also drain nearby sources of nectar, meaning that if the substance suddenly disappears while unattended, these creatures are probably in the area. Skitterpeels lack any combat abilities, being incapable of killing any Pikmin, but they are also capable of causing great annoyance if left unchecked. Skitterpeels will try to crawl under their target, whether that is the Pikmin or their captains, and if they step on the Skitterpeel, they will slip forward and slide, temporarily stunning them if they collide with a wall. While this attack doesn't do damage, it does a great job of scattering the team and leaving them more vulnerable. Overall a very annoying enemy to face, but one that is also quite easy to get rid of as it lacks health and speed, making it easy to kill. Still, its annoyance alone can make it one of the most dangerous enemies.

Notes

Magdalene's journal

I feel as though this alien world has a better sense of humor than Indy. He has the dry wit of a rushing river... I don't know if that analogy makes sense, what was I talking about again...

Azure's salvage logs

The wax under the creature's suction cups make a fantastic lubricant. If you can dilute the wax in water, it becomes more effective than motor oil.

Lenin's cooking tips

Nothing substantial to eat of note, but the wax is a good dish cleaner.

Ivy's biology logs

A more primitive species of the skitterling family, the wax that has allowed its more recent relatives to maintain an accurate disguise also allows this species to cling to almost any surface. However, they are most comfortable on the ground, using their hooked proboscis to eat buried seeds. Their waxy cling pads do lead to some humorous accidents since predators tend to trip onto them like a classic banana peel prank.

Flank the sides, not the front. We can't let this thing embarr-- uh, I mean, ambush me with their sneaky tricks.
