This game takes place before pikmin 3. (beta storyline of the game)

Drake, grandfather of Alph and owner of koppai industries, sent one of his local employees, Dell, on a mission to scout for edible matter on other planets in his new ship series, nexus. Dell makes to pnf-404 but crash lands in the flight. He lands in a forest region where he discovers that his ship's fuel tanks are empty. He wanders around and discovers the red onion, grows the pikmin population, and collects enough sparklium that the ship can orbit the close atmosphere. He spends his days collecting fruit and sparklium, growing the pikmin population along the way. Finding yellow, blue, ice, white, and rock pikmin in the new accessible areas.

The elemental areas are volcanic caves, electric cavern, barren lakes, winterous tundra, fungi forest, crystal mountain, and the final area is called engulfed palace where you fight the titan wraith and collect the cosmic drive key. And can now leave the planet in his full repaired s.s nexus 1. As he is close to engaging cosmic drive, he hears something coming from the cargo hold. he turns around to look at it and all of his supplies are spilling out! But before he can lock the hold, the autopilot engaging cosmic drive, sending him back to koppai.


"Yes. You've done excellent research on life and fruit. But um. Where ARE the seeds?" Drake asks dell. Then, the hatch of the nexus falls off, and a half empty bottle of juice rolls to drakes foot. "I dont mean to alarm you drake, but all of my supplies imploded in the flight home." He had a nervous smile on his face. "You know what. Its actually fine. Im about to send 3 other explorers to that planet anyway in my newest ship, the s.s drake"
