A Flimflan is a species of squishsquirt appearing in Pikmin Evolution. They get their name from their appearance, resembling a dollop of flan, complete with a caramel-colored coating. They also have a single eye resembling a cherry, with the eye itself being on the end of the stem-like eyestalk. The Flimflan's coating gives it great mobility despite its appearance, allowing it to quickly dart across the ground. It is often alone or in groups of two to five and can be of various sizes, with larger Flimflans having more health but moving less frequently compared to smaller ones. The Flimflan lacks any direct way of killing Pikmin, the closest being pushing them off a cliff into a nearby abyss. However, they compensate for that by being able to scatter an incredibly sticky, syrupy goop when they move, slowing Pikmin and leaders that tread on it down to a crawl while also preventing Pikmin from carrying or unearthing objects. This allows creatures such as Breadbugs, which the Flimflan is often found with, to steal away affected objects.
Though it would seem simple, killing a Flimflan is a process complicated by its syrupy coating, which prevents Pikmin from being able to latch onto its body. Rather, Pikmin that try to grab on will merely slide off and spread a bit of the substance where they land, having little time to strike with their stems, if at all able to. The usual methods of killing a Flimflan are to force it down a grated vent, slicing it to pieces, or into an abyss, both of which can be accomplished with any Pikmin type, but heavy Alloy Pikmin are the most effective at because they push the creatures back the most upon landing. However, Flimflans do not give up without a fight, and upon being pushed to the edge of an abyss, they will desperately attempt to push back. The only way to prevent it from happening is to have ten Pikmin lift the Flimflan and tip it over the edge, finally killing it. Afterward, the cherry-like eye will fly up from the depths of where the Flimflan fell, ripe for being collected. Alternatively, and perhaps more easily, using an icy cyan syrup will freeze the Flimflan's coating and immobilize the creature itself, allowing all Pikmin types to attack it until the ice thaws. If frozen while sliding, the Flimflan will continue sliding, potentially into a wall or abyss. If it collides with a wall, the ice covering it will shatter, but the Flimflan will incur major damage. Overall, for such an unorthodox creature, it is only fitting that there are equally unorthodox ways to dispose of it.
