The Armored Dwarf Bulborb is a stronger dwarf bulborb in Pikmin I. It resembles a Dwarf Orange Bulborb with longer fangs, and spikes on its back. The Armored Dwarf Bulborbs live in large packs of around 18 individuals to ensure mutual protection. It can leap toward Pikmin to surprise-attack them, and scream for help from its pack or to alert its packmates of an imminent threat. The spikes on its back protect it from any Pikmin landing on top of it except for Rock Pikmin, as the spikes will skewer and kill soft-skinned Pikmin. They have a large detection range, but it's still small compared to the Dwarf Orange Bulborb's.
The optimal choice against Armored Dwarf Bulborbs is to simply navigate around them, as they are usually located on main routes rather than nearby alternate routes. If they must be taken on, use ultra-spicy spray on attacking Pikmin or ultra-bitter spray on the dwarfs. If ultra-bitter spray won't be used, attack the Armored Dwarf Bulborbs from the sides as they can quickly devour Pikmin. An alternative way to dispose of them is for the captains to punch them to death while dodging their attacks.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “The Armored Dwarf Bulborb is a deadly yet pacifistic species. They have evolved as a biological response to Pikmin being in a more predatory position by becoming faster and stronger. They often live in packs of 18 and are often close to a certain sort of water or food supply. They also have formed closer relations with Breadbugs, in a symbiotic relationship in which the Breadbugs provide food and the Armored Dwarf Bulborbs provide protection.”

- “The weird spike pouches just ruin the flavor, it's disgusting!”
