Dell's family is only mentioned in voyage logs in Pikmin: Elements. He grew up with his mother, father, and grandfather, and has one younger brother and one older sister.
Only his grandfather's and mother's personalities are specifically mentioned. Dell is reminded of his grandfather in Crystal Caverns, stating "Something about this area reminds me of my grandfather. He always loved to hike mountains. And he was quite interested in minerals." Dell mentions his mother when commenting on the Spiky Delight: "The exterior of this fruit reminds me of my mother's hair. And her overall personality. Rough on the outside. Not much sweetness. But the small amount of it is extremely sweet. Her large mind takes up a lot of her personality."
Dell was one of the first employees at Koppai Industries Incorporated, where he met Alph, his grandfather, and his younger brother Yorke. Brittany and Charlie met them all once the famine had struck their planet like lightning. Drake had quickly designed some scouting ships called SPEROs according to Dell. Dell also mentions that the S.S. Nexus was thought of by Drake as an evolved SPERO.
