The Chloroswallow is a species of polyocular slug appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It has the body structure of the Bogswallow, but has a gray, bleached appearance with lime-green eyes. The Chloroswallow is a common enemy in the habitats it is found in, being one of the premier threats in acidic environments like badlands or jungles. The Chloroswallow nearly the same fighting style as its muddy counterpart on the surface, that being attempting to inhale any Pikmin or other small creature that enters its territory and then swallow them whole, killing them in the process. However, the Chloroswallow holds the distinction for its ability to swim. When something passes underneath the Chloroswallow, it will flip over and create a small whirlpool around itself, scattering Pikmin before they are pulled into the Chloroswallow's mouth.

As can be assumed, Germ Pikmin are the best Pikmin type to use against the Chloroswallow not only for their acid resistance but also because they receive an attack boost when submerged in the corrosive substance. The polyocular slug has two weakpoints for them to attack: the head and the tail. The tail receives more damage than the head, but due to how quickly the Chloroswallow can swimming, hitting it may be quite difficult. Likewise, the head is easier to hit but receives less damage, though not so little that it isn't worth targetting. Since it lives in acid, Pikmin types other than Germ Pikmin are poor choices as it will either suck them into the acid or shake them off into it when it tries to flee. If Germ Pikmin are limited or unavailable, try feeding the Chloroswallow an explosive orange syrup, as the ensuing blast within will heavily damage the creature if not kill it outright.

Upon defeat, the Chloroswallow will, if possible, leap from the acid it dwelled in and flop around on the ground before dying. Otherwise, it will simple sink to the bottom. Overall, this creature is just like the Bogswallow, but with a new, acidic coat of paint.

Notes

Ivy's journal

The wastelands, some of the most inhospitable habitats on our planet, a place where even the water can kill you. Few creatures are able to survive such hostile territory due to the high amount of competition and dangerous terrain, and of those the Chloroswallow is definitely one of the winners. Its family's main strategy of filter feeding through foreign substances is inherently rife for success, so really all you need to do is adapt that to a more corrosive setting. It has developed a tough gray hide that provides continuous protection against the acidic seas it calls home, and maintains that hide through regularly by sifting through minerals found there. This does leave the question of how the babies are able to survive inside acid from birth, which is worth investigating further into.

Leni's recipe book

The skin is too tough and gamey to enjoy, and the one Pikmin willing to eat it fainted from shock, so I say it's inedible.

Marvin's strategy guide

I hate acid! It stings, smells bad, and gets everywhere, but hey, maybe the Germ Pikmin would like to take a dip.
