Swooping Sparrowhead

Template:Infobox Enemy The Swooping Sparrowhead is a type of flying carnivore found within Pikmin Z. It has a rounded body with two sets of insect wings, similar to an average Sparrowhead, but as large as a Breadbug.

Biology

• Diet: prey smaller than a Breadbug.
• Predators: Flytrap Chrysanthemum

Swooping Sparrowheads look similar to their single-winged cousins. Their behavior resembles that of the Real-World Shrike: it hovers over its target, and then grabs prey with its beak, flying out of reach to eat its capture. It does sometimes get caught by a Flytrap Chrysantemum, it's main predator.

This larger, more aggressive Huntinpeck species has a rather disturbing method to secure prey: it swoops down and captures prey with its large beak, and then proceeds to gobble them up mid flight. Sometimes it also brings them to a nearby thorn nest and keep the food for later. It may be freaky to see, but a rather interesting survival strategy in a challenging world.

Strategy

Swooping Sparrowheads are best dealt with by Yellow Pikmin and Clover Pikmin, as both Pikmin are the only types to reach a Swooping Sparrowhead during flight. It will pause for a moment before it flies to attack, so strike it down first so it falls to the ground, then swarm it before it flies out of reach.
