The Skitterling family is a group of elusive insects that resemble plants.

Members

Desiccated Skitter Leaf

Main article: Desiccated Skitter Leaf

Desiccated Skitter Leaves, introduced in Pikmin 3, are the more hostile members of the skitterling family. They actually have a means of killing Pikmin by grabbing them and eating them swiftly. They resemble withered and dead leaves rather than the healthy ones Skitter Leaves imitate. The edges of the leaves are serrated and sharp, unlike its green relative.

Leafy Lobskitter

Main article: Leafy Lobskitter

The Leafy Lobskitter is a part of the harmless skitterling family and relative of the Skitter Leaf. This creature, however, is not a simple mimicker and actively hunts for its prey. It is the biggest member of the skitterling family and is just as big as the Emperor Bulblax from Pikmin 1. It has a large leaf spread out over the surface of its back. and it has small ridges on its flanks. The leaf is brown and it has two, giant blue compound eyes on its head. Its mouth is a long proboscis with a pair of mandibles at the end. It also has a pair of large pincers and ten, crustacean-like legs. It also has a massive, dark red body.

Mossy Skitter Leaf

Main article: Mossy Skitter Leaf

The Mossy Skitter Leaf is a leaf-disguising relative to the more common Skitter Leaf, and seems to be a middle stage between that and the Desiccated Skitter Leaf. It disguises itself as a pile of leaves sitting on the ground, the patterns mirroring that of dry leaves but still holds the same greenish coloration. On being approached, it will jump up and run away. The edged front legs though allow it to run along walls and ceilings in order to escape attackers, a trait not seen in other Skitterlings.

Pond Skater

Main article: Pond Skater

The Pond Skater is an airborne species equipped with wings capable of flight; when not in the air, it is typically found skating on bodies of water. According to Olimar's research conducted while he was visiting PNF-404 with Louie to pay back the debt for Hocotate Freight, some Pond Skaters adapted to life on dry land, losing their ability to skate on water. Over time, the Pond Skater's wings became useless for flying, but they began to mimic leaves of their environment. This evolution would eventually lead to the Skitter Leaf, which shares no residual traits of the Pond Skater.

Praying Skitter Leaf

Main article: Praying Skitter Leaf

It has an insect-like body, with a set of long, sharp pincers. The Praying Skitter Leaf is a ambush predator, and remains motionless until prey gets close. During the boss fight, it will move very quickly, and slice at you with its pincers.

Pyra Skitter Leaf

Main article: Pyra Skitter Leaf

Pyre Skitter Leafs are skitterlings identical to regular Skitter Leafs, albeit with black, charred bodies and glowing green eyes. When awakened, they ignite Pikmin on contact as they skitter around, burning all but Red Pikmin.

Scatter Shroom

Main article: Scatter Shroom

The Scatter Shroom is a skitterling that strongly resembles a small Puffstool that lacks antennae. They are slightly larger than a Dwarf Bulbear. Scatter Shrooms are completely harmless, uprooting themselves and fleeing when leaders or Pikmin walk by. However, as they are blind and aren't the smartest creatures, Scatter Shrooms often run into walls or topple over, both resulting in them being flipped onto their cap, their body exposed to attack.

Skuttlerock

Main article: Skuttlerock

A member of the Skitterling family, the Scuttlerock is a variant that lives in sandy or barren/dry areas. It is not dangerous and will flee when Pikmin or pilots draw near. Because it is protected by a hard shell it moves pretty slowly and only throwing Purple Pikmin will cause damage.

Skaetle

Main article: Skaetle

It is a disc-shaped orange creature with two stalked eyes and four long legs.

Skitter Bomb

Main article: Skitter Bomb

Skitter Bombs are Skitterlings that disguise themselves as bomb-rocks. This is a very good ruse, though with a certain upgrade, you can pick them up and throw them. Other than that, they're the same as Skitter Leaves, only with more health.

Skitter Leaf

Main article: Skitter Leaf

The Skitter Leaf is a harmless enemy introduced in Pikmin 2. They resemble a regular, healthy leaf. Skitter Leaves are fairly uncommon enemies, but are often found in groups. If approached, a Skitter Leaf will try to scurry away as it has no means of defense or offense. They can often be more trouble than they're worth, since they are only worth one Poko and seed.

Skitter Reed

Main article: Skitter Reed

As their name suggests, a Skitter Reed is a species of Skitterling that closely resembles a Reed plant. Its lower body has turned rigid, resembling said plant, and it uses it for camouflage as it lays dormant. Unlike other Skitterlings, the Skitter Reed has only two legs, though it can still move faster than a typical Skitterling. It'll stay perfectly still, its stiff lower half-raised into the air to mimic a reed, but will panic and scatter if you venture too close.

Skittylion

Main article: Skittylion

The Skittylion is a larger member of the skitterling family. From a distance, it appears to be a mere Seeding Dandelion, but when approached by leaders or Pikmin, it reveals its true form and begins attacking them. The seeding dandelion on its body is nothing more than a leaf is to the Skitter Leaf's body, and top the stem is a puffball meant to resemble a mature dandelion head.
