The Snowy Mountain is the first area you play in Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds and serves as the tutorial level for the first two days. Red, Purple, and Cyan Pikmin are all found here. As it's name says, it's a snowy mountain, which mean ice-based enemies are a common find here. There is also a river flowing from the top of the level, which divides it into sections. Akou and Sasou (the main antagonists of the game) tried to make a base here, but as it was easily exposed to the public, they tried the Moon. That's why there's barely any enemies here (first few days). There are also 9 Treasures above ground.

Subareas

This area is split into 3 subareas, as well as a hidden subarea.

Subarea 1: Landing Site

This is the landing site of the area. Strange is that it eerily resembles the landing site from the Valley of Repose from Pikmin 2, only on a larger scale. A passageway begins at the and, and splits into two passageways. They each lead to another subarea. There are zero Treasures here.

Subarea 2: Frigid Fields

The closer subarea to the landing site, this is also the most flat subarea, too. A part of an icy river cuts through here, splitting further. A bridge leads to an island in the middle of the river, and two more bridges lead to two other areas. However, the bridge on the right is blocked by some ice; you'll need Cyan Pikmin to deal with this. This is where the President falls at, and the Red Onion is rediscovered here, and there are 5 "1" Pellet Posies, 2 "5" Pellet Posies, and a Snow Bulborb is in the passageway going the landing site. The Frosty Depths (3 floors) is accessed by the bridge that goes to the left, while the one on the right goes to the Frigid Cavern (8 floors). 20 Pikmin are needed to crush a cardboard box that blocks the way. There's also another box that prevents you from getting to the Frosty Depths early, and it needs 40 Pikmin.

Final Subarea: Icy Slopes

This is the final subarea. There's another cardboard box here that needs a whopping 300 Pikmin! However, if you have the 30 Purple Pikmin (they are found in the Frosty Depths) it will be flattened. Because you're now going up the side of the mountain, the terrain gets steeper, and you and your Pikmin go faster/slower by going down or up, respectively. You also encounter the other part of the icy river, but there are two islands in the river, and, because you're going up, you need Yellow Pikmin because of their ability to be thrown high. After that, you have to go through a simple maze of sticks and twigs. There 6 passageways that lead away from the maze; all of them end in an alcove with a tough enemy/puzzle protecting a Treasure (except for the 7th one, which the Icy Labyrinth is at the end of the passageway). Finally, after the maze, the Icicle Abyss (6 floors) is in dead sight. Also, the Bronze Mega Key (which is required to unlocking the Garden) is behind the cardboard box.

Hidden Subarea: Icy Grotto

If you continue upwards past the Icicle Abyss, go as high as you can and you'll see a waterfall. Underneath it are 3 "20" pellets! This is accessed by going all the way back to the beginning, where you might see a dent in the wall. That's the passageway leading to the Icy Grotto with the "20" pellets, but you need Brown Pikmin to make this tunnel. The pellets can regenerate about every 20 days, so check often! Just be careful, though: the floor here is very icy and slick, so your Pikmin could slide right off the edge!

Weather

Spring

  • Early Spring: Vast quantities of snow is still found everywhere.
  • Mid Spring: Changes start to happen: There are more sunnier days, it snows less, the snow starts to melt away, and hibernating animals wake up.
  • Late Spring: About half of the snow (at the base) has now disappeared. It is also warming up, contributing to the melting snow. It will now rain, too. Also, there are now a few puddles.

Summer

  • Early Summer: All the snow has disappeared, and it rains a lot, so much that the river will sometimes overflow, creating a flood. Still, it is gradually warming up.
  • Mid Summer: This is the hottest time of year. However, there is still a bunch of humidity in the air, so sometimes thunderstorms can form. Be careful!
  • Late Summer: It rains more, but it is starting to cool down.

Fall

  • Early Fall: Now, it starts to snow half of the time, and it is still cooling down.
  • Mid Fall: It is more cloudy, and most of the snow has come back. Some puddles freeze, and make icy, slippery surfaces. Some enemies go to hibernate.
  • Late Fall: Now the area is a winter-like landscape. It is very snowy.

Winter

  • Early Winter: Icicles have formed. If you walk underneath one, it will fall, creating a hazard to your Pikmin.
  • Mid Winter: It is very cold during this time of year. It snows violently, sometimes reducing your vision. This also poses a threat to Pikmin.
  • Late Winter: The weather has calmed down a bit. It is still very snowy.
