Enemy Bio

The Lesser Pillimpede is a large pill bug-like creature that can be found in dark locations, usually curled up in the way of a path. Once approached it will wake up. It is roughly larger than a Spotty Bulbear. Unlike the larger Millimpede, the Lesser Pillimpede is actually able to be defeated by knocking it onto its back and attacking it's underbelly. Behavior-wise, the Lesser Pillimpede is similar to the Segmented Crawbster, however, instead of being knocked over when it hits a wall, the Lesser Pillimpede will begin rolling up the side of the wall onto the ceiling. To knock the Lesser Pillimpede onto its back, it must have pikmin thrown at it from the front when it rears up for a roll attack. If the Lesser Pillimpede is alive at half or below half health and it is on its feet, it will instantly go into a defensive curled up state in which it will regenerate health. While curled up, the Lesser Pillimpede can be carried, but it weighs double what it would if it were defeated. It will leave its curled-up state once it reaches full health, and any Pikmin still carrying it will be knocked back.

Olimar's Notes

One of the smallest members of the usually behemoth-sized pillimpede family. This armored giant not as docile as its largest relative, the titanic Millimpede, instead it lashes out at anything it perceives to be a threat.

Louie's Notes

Incredibly succulent, tender meat is guarded by a heavy, hard outer shell. However, flipping this mighty morsel over grants a treasure hoard of delicious meat, best cooked in a large pan full of boiling water. Cook until the meat shows a delectable red coloration and serve with lemon and butter sauce.

Battle Strategy

The most effective method of tipping over the Lesser Pillimpede is to use Rock Pikmin. Once this is done, Winged Pikmin or Yellow Pikmin would be advised to attack its underbelly while it's flipped over. It is ill-advised to lead a rolling Lesser Pillimpede towards a wall. This is because it will roll up onto the ceiling (if there is a ceiling), where it will have an opportunity to ambush the player by dropping down in ball form. If there isn't a ceiling, it will instantly bound off the top off the wall and come rolling back down towards the player and their pikmin.
