The Gold Bulborb is a species of Grub-dog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It gets its name for a rather simple reason, its body makes it look like its made out of solid gold, however it is not made out of true gold, just gold colored. It gets this glistening gold hue from its diet, which consists of some of the riches and purest foods on could find in the animal kingdom, which also results in the creature being as massive as a Jumbo Bulborb. Otherwise the Gold Bulborb has the same build as a standard Bulborb, just with the addition of a massive frame. The Gold Bulborb, due to its diet of nutritionally rich foods, makes it extremely rare, never being seen found in the wild or any dens. And its need for a clean and pure diet means it won't appear in most raids as they often attack polluted settlements. Rather the Gold Bulborb will only attack settlements with an extremely clean atmosphere, and due to how rare such a raid can occur, you may not even see it. Not helping matters is the fact that the Gold Bulborb isn't even guaranteed to appear in such a raid and the fact that when it does appear it tends to coast in back of the forces attacking your settlements. Despite the massive size of both the Gold Bulborb's frame and appetite, its a coward at heart, as just at the moment you attack it the grub-dog will flee and run to the hills, never to be seen again in the raid. This means battling the Gold Bulborb is played more like a frantic chase, as on top of chasing down this rare beast you also have to deal with the enemies from the raid you have to contend with. The Gold Bulborb has one of the largest health pools of any grub-dog, being just shy of the Tsar Bulblax, making it quite the tanky foe to take down. It also retains the Emperor Bulblax's ability to roar, causing any Pikmin attacking the creature to fall into a panic. This makes the creature a pain to chase down, but the creature is luckily slow to both road and shake Pikmin off its back, so you just need to regularly swarm the hide to chip away at the health pool. Despite not being made from gold, damaging the Gold Bulborb will cause it to scatter gold nuggets that you can carry back to your ship for some sparklium, however if you want to kill the creature those nuggets may as well be a distraction so you might as well ignore it until the grub-dog is slain. The Gold Bulborb has a particular weakness to fire, as it gets distracted by the flames, causing it to light itself on fire and flee in terror. As such tossing a fiery red syrup into the Gold Bulborb's path can rapidly decay its heal pool faster than any other attack your Pikmin can muster. When slain the Gold Bulborb, true to its name, drops a ton of gold nuggets, but it also can be carried to either the ship or Onion for a massive reward, either 1000 sparklium, the highest given to any creature or refuse in the game, or 100 Pikmin respectivly, the same as the Smokey Progg's pearl. As such the rewards this creature gives matches the rarity of finding it, though the difficulty in finding the creature may prove to make the rewards not worth it depending to some people. Sometimes there are some creatures that would be better off as trophies, and the Gold Bulborb is one of them.
