So I've noticed that, lately, the User Rights Requests page has become... well, obsolete. In the entire time I've had an account here the Rights Requests page has not been used. I feel that nowadays us 'crats are just handing out power without the community's opinion! That's bad, because the community needs a say in who gets power and who doesn't.

So, I'm going to elaborate on this a little bit. That page exists for a reason, which is to see if the community thinks a user should be promoted. But since it hasn't been used we've resorted to other means of promoting users. A couple months ago I promoted Peach Bulborb to the rank of admin, and we didn't hold a vote... I am guilty of not using a page like I should have been... However, as of now, this will change.

By reinstituting this back into our policy, the community will not only be able to get to decide in who gets power or not, they will also see who may become one, and know them as a staff member (if promoted). This will also be good for us 'crats, as we can hear what the users have to say about it and how we can fix it. In my opinion, whenever the wiki is going to be updated or something, the community should be informed and allowed to pitch in an opinion.

In a nutshell: The Rights Requests page has not been used, and needs to be used again. This is important as the community has an opinion in who gets promoted or not.
