Forum:Rights Requests Reinstitution

So I've noticed that, lately, the [[PikminFanon:User Rights Requests|User Rights Requests]] page has become... well, obsolete. In the entire time I've had an account here the Rights Requests page has not been used. I feel that nowadays us 'crats are just handing out power without the community's opinion! That's bad, because the community needs a say in who gets power and who doesn't.

So, I'm going to elaborate on this a little bit. That page exists for a reason, which is to see if the community thinks a user should be promoted. But since it hasn't been used we've resorted to other means of promoting users. A couple months ago I promoted Peach Bulborb to the rank of admin, and we didn't hold a vote... I am guilty of not using a page like I should have been... However, as of now, this will change.

By reinstituting this back into our policy, the community will not only be able to get to decide in who gets power or not, they will also see who may become one, and know them as a staff member (if promoted). This will also be good for us 'crats, as we can hear what the users have to say about it and how we can fix it. In my opinion, whenever the wiki is going to be updated or something, the community should be informed and allowed to pitch in an opinion.

In a nutshell: The Rights Requests page has not been used, and needs to be used again. This is important as the community has an opinion in who gets promoted or not.

Feel free to leave questions, comments, and/or concerns below. ~PikFan23 (Admin)

EDIT: I checked the history of the Rights Requests page and found three nominations. Two of them didn't have enough opinions, and the other wasn't important. However, that was in 2011; a long time ago! We must use this again. ~PikFan23 (Admin)

I agree 100%. Peach Bulborb icon.png I'm Peach Bulborb, and I approve all grub-dogs. (Sysop)
I would also add a small rule to voting. You must know the person to vote against or for them. It is hardly community opinion when half the voters don't know the guy. Peach Bulborb icon.png I'm Peach Bulborb, and I approve all grub-dogs. (Sysop)
Mm, no, I don't think that rule would work. The to-be admin or 'crat would probably be a well-known editor by that point, so the rule wouldn't be necessary. Additionally, when voting, it would probably be like nominating an FA or FI, except it would be way more serious. (As such, reasons for why the user should be promoted would be listed.) ~PikFan23 (Admin)
Okay. I think all admins and bureaucrats should use rights request in the future whenever someone asks for rights. Peach Bulborb icon.png I'm Peach Bulborb, and I approve all grub-dogs. (Sysop)
