Template:Infobox Cave Buoy Base is the second cave avaliable in The Crossroads, in President's Adventure. There are several new features in this cave, such as the presence of newcomer enemies, environment changes and the possibility to find a Purple Incubator, to create Purple Pikmin. Here's also the first cave where the player can acquire Purple Pikmin with the Violet Candypop Bud.

Complete Guide

Sublevel 1

This floor is a Purple Pikmin tutorial. Although there's no guidance here, everything the player has to do is to turn Red Pikmin into Purple Pikmin, defeat the enemies to make the treasure appear. The Red Bulborb is hiding the treasure inside himself.

Sublevel 2

Not all different from the first floor, the player can turn more Red Pikmin into Purple Pikmin with the Violet Candypop Bud. There are two different corridors, one enemy free. In the other corridor, there are enemies and a treasure the player can collect. At the end of the corridors, the ways met and lead the player to the under ground.

Sublevel 3

Although there are only harmless enemies in this floor, the player must be extra careful. Here, the player first met the Evilwisp, another version of the Honeywisp. When they spot Pikmin, they drop bags containing dubious material, that destroy the flower of Pikmin with one. To skip them, the player must walk carefully or with small teams of Pikmin. At the end, there's a treasure and Honeywisps.

Sublevel 4

There are only two enemies in this floor, both Red Bulborbs. Also, there's a hidden Iridescent Glint Beetle. It'll always pop out of the ground if the player walk over the spot where he's sleeping. However, the player can't kill it without an upgrade, the Infinity Spray, that makes Pikmin faster and stronger. This upgrade is to be found ahead in the adventure.

Sublevel 5

Here, the player must follow two paths, but one with the Red, and the other with the Purple Pikmin, since each way are designed for them. In the Red Pikmin path, the player must destroy some fire hazards and defeat some enemies to reach that path's treasure. In the Purple Pikmin path, the player must destroy white and black gates, and sometimes defeat swarms of Male or Female Sheargrub to reach that path's treasure.

Sublevel 6

The final floor is much harder then the others. Here, the player first met the buoys. There's usually one buoy connect to another, and to inflate one, the other must deflate. Strategy here domands to use Purple Pikmin. Colorful buoys throw the Pikmin higher. Next to the final battle room, where the big treasure lies, the player must make all Pikmin fly from the buoy to the bridge, since the floor is covered in water. A few steps ahead is the mid-boss Nanny Bulborb, with six Dwarf Red Bulborb in her back. Defeating her will give the player the Purple Incubator and a pass to freedom.

Buoy Base

The cavern where the skies went purple. With the helping hand of the Purple Pikmin, there won't be more struggling Red Pikmin to pick up heavy things. New enemies await, along with a fun buoy playing. Because everyone needs a break sometimes, right?

Restricted Treasures

There is a total of two treasures in the entire cave that the player must collect later, since they're only avaliable with different colored Pikmin founded later in the adventure. Those treasures are:

  • Fat Free Delight - In a distant corner, there are poisonous pipes. The player can throw Pikmin over the pipes, but they'll never return the treasure before fainting. Therefore, White Pikmin are a requirement to pick up the treasure.
  • Funny Square - Next to the final enemy in the entire cave, the first time the player tries the cave he/she uses the buoys to make Pikmin cross the water path. Returning here later with the Blue Pikmin, the player can take the treasure off the water and take it to the ship.
