Acolytes refer to hostile leaflings that align themselves with the Order of the Wraiths and are major antagonists appearing in Pikmin Evolution. As leaflings they share the same general appearance as the playable captains, that being plant-based humanoids of various skin colors ranging from red, blue, yellow, white, or purple and have varying amount of leaf-like facial hair based on the individual. These leaflings follow the Order of the Wraiths, a cult that is attempting to summon their god, the Plasm Wraith to form a universe united under a singularity in time and space. One of the playable captains, Leni was among the followers, but left after seeing the damage the Plasm Wraith's incomplete form, the Waterwraith did to her colony, and so she is fighting against her former order. Acolytes appear in and around the entrances of dens involved in the Secrets of the Wraiths storyline. Each group of acolytes have a different colored uniform based on which area they are found in.

Acolytes utilize a variety of fighting styles and tactics, and those that focus on a specific battle tactic get labeled a specific class. The classes consist of the Acolyte Fighter, which wields a baton tipped with a specific hazard, most often fire and electricity. They attack by swiping with their batons, applying that particular hazard onto your Pikmin as well as pushing them back with the force of their batons. The Acolyte Gaurd which wields a pointed spear which they use to charge at your army, skewering any Pikmin unlucky enough to be in the way of their spears. The Acolyte Paladin creates a shield for itself made out a particular hazard, meaning only a specific type of Pikmin can break it. however the Paladin will unfurl that shield to shoot a blast of hazardous energy, allowing all Pikmin types to attack it. Acolyte Riders ride tamed versions of the local species of Dwarf Bulborb, commanding a pack of fellow Dwarf Bulborbs to attack your army. Acolyte Witches have a staff that summons a cloud of spores which turns all non-Roach Pikmin into Puffmin which they command just like how you command your Pikmin. Acolyte Healers periodically release a healing aura that heals and even revives other Acolytes and the animals they domesticate. Acolyte Bombers lob explosive grenades at your army from afar, and often flee to gain a better vantage point. Acolyte Raiders swing around clubs to crush Pikmin, and are very good ar destroying walls, they also have the highest health of all the acolytes. Finally Acolyte Summoners user dark wraith magic to summon monsters under their command, including some minibosses, and summons a squad of Acolytes when they are defeated. All these Acolytes can be one of four ranks, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum, and each succeeding rank has more health and powerful attacks than the previous rank, being more difficult to take down overall. Acolytes are also common sights in raids, fighting alongside monsters they personally tamed, and since they are sentient beings the raids they participate in will be more organized and therefore more dangerous. To make the raids less likely to occur, you need to clear out each den related to the Order of the Wraith and destroy the shrine on the final floor which is done by defeating the boss of said floor, which causes the Order of the Wraith's influence to falter in that particular area, making it less likely to be overrun by Acolytes. Overall the Acolytes offer a unique but no less dangerous threat in this game, a more humanoid and intelligent threat never seen before.
