The Jumbo Orange Bulborb is a polyploid species of grub-dog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. As the name states, it is essentially an oversized Orange Bulborb, with not many major differences from its smaller variant. Like the Jumbo Red Bulborb, this giant grub-dog is always awake, either patrolling its territory or hiding within a bush or behind a wall. As well, the Jumbo Orange Bulborb is highly aggressive, and strong enough to shatter a stone wall, let alone anything below it in terms of durability. This makes it very dangerous during a raid as it can effortlessly break through underdeveloped defenses. Compared to the Jumbo Red Bulborb, which prefers to attack through a series of lunges, the Jumbo Orange Bulborb utilizes a different attacking strategy, which is to prepare a forward dash that is capable of penetrating multiple layers of walls. Up to fifteen Pikmin in its path will be eaten, and the rest will simply be flung back.

The Jumbo Orange Bulborb is very resilient to most physical harm it inflicts on itself, brushing off impact with walls and quickly stamping out any fires it may have entered. However, while it may boast extreme stamina, its bulk is on par with the Jumbo Red Bulborb's. The optimal course of action against this beast is to attack its backside, just like with the Jumbo Red Bulborb, but by throwing Pikmin rather than swarming so as to avoid the risk of being charged at. Another major weakness to exploit is the Jumbo Orange Bulborb's surprising issue with allergies; any foreign particle that enters the Bulborb's nostrils will cause severe agitation and stun it. This can easily be done by leading it through a giant cluster of mushrooms, mainly those radiating a allergenic substance. After ramming into the mushrooms, the Jumbo Orange Bulborb will feel faint from all the sneezing it will have done, opening a chance to attack. Alloy Pikmin are very effective to use during this time due to their highly damaging stomps, though Roach Pikmin, with their spore immunity, can freely attack the Bulborb without fear of also falling victim to the mushrooms' emissions. Overall, the Jumbo Orange Bulborb presents a unique twist on the giant Bulborb, but just like the Jumbo Red Bulborb, its also not the most complicated one to face.

Notes

Ivy's journal

Since the Red and Orange Bulborbs procreate in very similar ways, it should come to no surprise that they are also prone to similar mutations. The Jumbo Orange Bulborb, or Big Orange as I like to call it, suffers from the exact same genetic defect as the Jumbo Red. This defect manifests as an increased size of total bulk and an overdeveloped amygdala, causing the Big Orange to be more prone to raging outbursts. This, combined with how high-strung the Orange Bulborb already was, normally makes for a very territorial animal that even a Bulbear wouldn't want to disturb.

Leni's recipe book

This aggressive beast yields a gamey meat that must be tenderized for a few hours so that it can actually be chewable. I like to fry the loin in sweet peppers and dry overnight to make a mountain of beast jerky, a hearty and nutritious snack for all ages.

Marvin's strategy guide

This Bulborb uses its head in battle but seems to be lacking in basic hygiene. Surely some chemical warfare would work on this beast, huh?
