The Bug-Eyed Dumple is an unusual species of grub-dog that heavily resembles a fusion between a Dwarf Bulborb and a Water Dumple. They have a dark blue, slug-shaped body with pink feet near the end of it. They also have whiskers, and pink lips like a Water Dumple. However, they also have two blue eyestalks with white sclera and blue pupil, nostrils, and two white fangs like a Bulborb.

The Bug-Eyed Dumple is semi-aquatic, meaning it can live in land or on water. However, unlike both species, it can adapt to both environments, meaning it wont be slow on the land like a Water Dumple, or slow in the water like a Dwarf Bulborb. Its large eyestalks also give it a larger range than most grub-dogs, and its fangs allow for it to eat more Pikmin in each bite. If provoked, the Bug-Eyed Dumple may shriek out, similar to a Dwarf Bulborb. This will wake up any adult bulborbs and alert any nearby dumples to its location.

Defeating a Bug-Eyed Dumple can be difficult. It's best for the player to swarm the creature with a large amount of Red Pikmin or Blue Pikmin, depending on if its in water or on land. The player can also throw Pikmin at its eyestalks in order to temporarily stun it and release any Pikmin it has caught in its jaws.
