Attacks Fires sand balls, spits tar

The Tropical Cannon Beetle is a new boss found in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature takes on the physical traits of an Armored Cannon Beetle with its large abdomen and 4 legs. However, its body resembles a coconut shell. Along with this, the creature has a seemingly tribal mask on its face, and 4 brown legs. It has a soft, red underbelly. The boss can be found wandering slowly in its arena. Entering the arena starts the fight.

The Tropical Cannon Beetle acts like a regular Armored Cannon Beetle. However, when it charges its attack and fires, it will shoot out a large ball of sand instead of sand. The sand will pick up any Pikmin it runs into before it slams into an arena wall. Although the Pikmin do not die when they get hit by the sand ball or slammed into the wall, the resulting clouds of sand can choke them to death unless whistled. Like most Lithopods, it can be taken out by throwing a Pikmin into its blowhole as it begins to charge its attack. Once performed, it will flip over completely and reveal its soft underbelly to attack. If at least 25% of its health is drained, or at least 10 seconds pass, the boss will flip over and begin to use its large legs to shake sand everywhere, creating massive dust clouds to choke more Pikmin. If a Dart Pikmin is somehow thrown into its blowhole, the Tropical Cannon Beetle will lose one-fourth of its health instantly, but its carapace will not open up; it will instead simply spit the Pikmin out. When 50% of its health is drained, the creature will begin to spit out globs of tar which can trap Pikmin, and fire sand boulders at them to scoop them up and choke them with dust clouds. Rubber Pikmin cannot be caught in the globs of tar.

Attacks Produces adhesive, crushes Pikmin

The Tropical Cannon Beetle is a fully grown Tropical Cannon Larva in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers that lives on the large rainforest island in Creature's Quay. It resembles a fusion between a coconut crab, a Polynesian mask, and an actual coconut. It has a beige carapace with tan hairs hanging from it, four brown, crab-like legs, and a head with strange, tribalesque markings.

The Tropical Cannon Beetle guards the shipwreck where Spelunker's Locker is found. It attacks by spitting boulders that leave behind a trail of sticky tar which can slow down or even trap most Pikmin. Black Pikmin can cross it just fine, however. It is defeated like a typical Armored Cannon Beetle, by throwing a Pikmin into its blowhole and attacking its vulnerable body. Every time it closes, however, it begins spitting globs of tar and then shoots boulders at trapped Pikmin. Upon defeat, the Tropical Cannon Beetle drops the Paradisiacal Morsel.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This jungle-dwelling lithopod gains nourishment by extending the inner parts of its mouth out like a starfish's stomach, and using the teeth-like carbide plates inside to carve into trees and eat the sap and grubs inside the wood. It has also been observed using this method to reach tar deposits underground and drink from them. This purpose is unknown, but it tends to regurgitate blobs of tar when under stress. The facial markings are only present on the males and are used to attract mates.

Louie's notes

Crack open the shell on the abdomen and squeeze out most of its fluids. Sundry the rest of its abdomen and grind into a fine powder for coconut chili or curry. Use the squeezed fluids as a light, refreshing base for all sorts of drinks.
