The Fiery Empress Bulblax is the grub-dog matriarch of Fiery Bulblaxes, resembling them and being perpetually cloaked in fire. It is located only underground, usually sleeping peacefully, waking upon taking damage, but may already be awake, birthing countless Bulblax Larvae. The Fiery Empress Bulblax has no adverse reaction to the presence of leaders or Pikmin, not even attempting to eat any directly in front of it, but does watch them so long as they are in its line of sight. If left alone long enough after being woken up, a Fiery Empress Bulblax curls up and then returns to its slumber. A Fiery Empress Bulblax that is found awake remains so until having birthed enough Bulblax Larvae, prompting her to sleep until she is woken up from damage or enough of her offspring dying. A Fiery Empress Bulblax can never be fully extinguished by water while it is still alive due to the combustible fluid it constantly secretes and, as it can not swim, it eventually drowns in water deep enough to submerge its face.
Having a form reminiscent of the Empress Bulblax, the creature's distorted, melted features include a massive, long, segmented body covered by a red and black fluid, having a comparatively small, light-colored face featuring two eyestalks on top that each support an eye of differing size, and little legs dangling underneath its face.
Although a massive creature vulnerable from anywhere on its body, a Fiery Empress Bulblax should always be fought head-on regardless of whether or not it is actively birthing Bulblax Larvae. Red Pikmin are the optimal choice against this creature because of their resistance to fire and because they inflict more damage than most other Pikmin types, made important as the Fiery Empress Bulblax has more vitality than most other empress bulblaxes. Leaders can damage a Fiery Empress Bulblax by punching it, although they are hurt on contact unless they have the Scorch Guard equipped. Leaders also are effective at distracting and disposing of the ravenous, ever-hungry swarm of Bulblax Larvae the creature inevitably pushes out. After taking enough damage, it quite forcefully shakes Pikmin off of itself and then begins to roll from side to side, barking as it switches directions after colliding with a wall, which may cause boulders to fall if the cave ceiling is weak. Anything a Fiery Empress Bulblax rolls over is crushed and killed, and anything that survives is set ablaze if they are not also fire-retardant. After doing this a few times, it returns to its original position and resumes its idle behavior. Upon death, only the frontmost segment of it remains, and its body extinguishes, allowing any Pikmin type to carry it.
