Notes

Tike's notes

Wow, such a big size difference from the males. I found out that the females are treated almost like queens. A more recent discovery is that males are overprotective of their females, although the females are not breeding machines... As Alice says, the females act kind of like psychologists as well. They encourage the males and do things to make them happy. Their wings resemble those of a spectralid, so maybe they used to not have wings before a possible DNA imbalance occurred.

Alice's notes

I have to admit, these creatures match the three laws of my love meter. They have a pleasant, charming personality, are cute and gorgeous, and display quite a nice companionship. They also meet the tastes of a psychologist in many ways as well. If this creature spoke our language and was not a monster or the same gender as me, I would so tell her that she's the perfect type for me.

Captain Pikmin's notes

Try to kill off her little guardians first, and pay attention when she is underground. Make sure you place a rock where you think she's heading to make her slam into the pile, back into the air. She will get fatigued and slam into the ground, where she can be swarmed with dignity.

The Female Shearwig appears in Pikmin: Gold/Silver/Bronze. Its behaviors are similar to those of its Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator incarnation, and its defeat is important to story progression. The Shearwigs it calls upon are ravenous and may swarm Pikmin and leaders.

The Female Shearwig is a mandiblard boss appearing in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator, and until then only male Shearwigs were encountered, the females said to be dwelling underground. A Female Shearwig is encountered and fought at the bottom of the Pale Pit of Peril, a cave in Mountain Springs. It is much larger than the male Shearwigs it is surrounded by, the difference in size between the female and males somewhat similar to that of real-world female and male anglerfish. When approached, the Female Shearwig emerges from the ground alongside its minions and then crawls around slowly in search of prey with them. Upon seeing Pikmin and leaders to eat, it rears back and then slashes forward, eating any in the way. Its fleshy backside is vulnerable to attack and can be reached easily after sidestepping the creature's primary attack. Once the Female Shearwig's health is reduced by half, it begins periodically flapping its wings to generate wind, knocking over Pikmin caught in the attack. Upon the death of the Female Shearwig, the male Shearwigs accompanying her cease attacking and then burrow into the ground permanently.
