In Pikmin X: Deep Freeze, the Armored Akkari is the boss of the Woods of Occlusion. Distinguishing this beast from the similar Blade Akkari is its hard armor plating, protecting the front of the creature from attacks.

The Armored Akkari lurks in the water surrounding a small circle of land; most of the arena is composed of a thick sheet of ice. The creature's main method of attack is to circle around the arena and then breach into the air, landing on the ice and sliding forward with its mouth open to devour Pikmin in its path before sliding back into the water. It may also leap directly into the water to create a large splash of water to drown Pikmin standing on the ice. When it reaches a low enough amount of health, the Armored Akkari will also occasionally smash sections of the ice by jumping through from below, scattering freezing ice shards and temporarily reducing parts of the playing field. The ice floes will eventually drift back together after some time.

To defeat the Armored Akkari, it must be tricked into pouncing onto the central chunk of land, beaching it and leaving its vulnerable tail open to attack. After a while, it will manage to roll itself back into the water and continue attacking. Upon defeat, it coughs up Data Chip C and its carcass can be salvaged for a whopping fifty Pikmin seeds.
