Family Amphituber

The Yellow Wollyhop, formerly known as the Yellow Wollywog, is an ovoid yellow amphituber that is typically found in or around large, open-air bodies of water and in moist, rainy areas. They are known to leap into the air, floating temporarily by inflating their throat, and dropping abruptly, with the intent of landing on and crushing Pikmin below. Such an attack can be prevented if the wollyhop is weighed down by enough Pikmin. Compared to their subterranean counterpart, the Wollyhop, Yellow Wollyhop jump with greater vertical movement but less horizontal movement, and, in Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, does not notice Pikmin and leaders approaching from behind.

In Hey! Pikmin, Yellow Wollyhops passively hop about a set area, ignoring Olimar and his Pikmin. If attacked, a Yellow Wollyhop will become hostile, and attempt to flatten Olimar first, or any Pikmin if Olimar isn't in range.

The Yellow Wollywog appears in Pikmin 4: The World to Free. Along with their usual crushing attacks, they can also release water they have stored in their stomachs.

Notes

Tike's notes

What makes these guys even more deadly is the fact that they can store water in their bellies to help themselves survive longer out of water. However, the problem is that the storage may burst and drown non-Blues. According to Olimar, they never have done that before. Maybe Captain Pikmin is right... Perhaps our enemies have evolved over time. Olimar's information is based off a three-hundred-year-old prehistoric booklet, by the first of our kind to walk on the planet. However, they tend to be a bit slower, but seem to be more stable than their pale relatives.

Alice's notes

Oddly, with the same bloodthirsty nature, they tend to be more jolly and less vicious than the white Wollywog. Perhaps it's the sun? Any means these ones sure look like they need some sunglasses. The black just doesn't appeal to me...

Captain Pikmin's notes

Bring Blues! ...Unless it already on the surface. They can shake off Pikmin unlike the white Wollywogs, but don't worry as they aren't master hoppers. Dodging them are much easier. Just be wary of their water storage splashing.

Attacks Crushes Pikmin

In Pikmin Forever, Yellow Wollywogs have a much more wet appearance in and around water, and with each hop out of water, it will have a more dryer appearance. If it is in the air, it can drop faster the more Pikmin it has on it, and if struck with a Mushroom Pikmin, it will comically fall to the opposite direction of the Mushroom Pikmin and land on its side, taking time getting up. Pikmin in the air with it will be knocked off. Winged Pikmin who are currently airborne will attempt to lift a Yellow Wollywog in the air. If they are successful, the wollywog will struggle a bit before being dropped by the Winged Pikmin, dealing massive damage to the creature. The Yellow Wollywog will become more aggressive if there are Wogpoles around and even more aggressive if the Wogpoles are attacked.

Attacks Crushes Pikmin

The Yellow Wollywog is a returning species of amphituber in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original incarnation in Pikmin 3. The Wollywog is typically found near bodies of water and hops on Pikmin to crush and kill them. If attacked, the creature will vigorously shake off the Pikmin. Depending on where a Yellow Wollywog is, the bottom part of its body may be covered in water, soil, mud, sand, snow, or other types of materials due to its sticky skin.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The Yellow Wollywog is the more vibrant species of its typical albino variant. This creature tends to spend its time near pools of water, feeding off the numerous vegetation found around the area. Despite its peaceful, herbivorous nature, the Wollywog will still attempt to crush small insects like Pikmin. They will then suck up the internal juices from the bottom of their body for consumption, for the Yellow Wollywog has sticky, absorbent skin.

Louie's notes

This beast's legs are the most flavorful part of the body. Batter the legs and fry them for an amazing, crunchy experience.

President’s notes

This weird creature reminds me of the frogs found on my home planet. I wonder if this guy still pees when it's threatened?

Notes

Olimar's notes

There are several differences between Wollywogs and Yellow Wollywogs. Most obvious is their color, but Wollywogs tend to appear underground more often than Yellow Wollywogs. Yellow Wollywogs, with large Pikmin numbers on top, can not jump high enough to set it free, however, Wollywogs can jump under pressure.
