Hazard

Wind is a hazard that, depending on its strength, can push, knock down, or forcefully blow away leaders and most Pikmin types. Some types of wind may have additional or different effects, such as deflowering Pikmin. Purple Pikmin are completely unaffected by wind, save for any extra effects it may have.

Wind is also present as part of weather in some fan-made games.

Wind appears in two different forms in Pikmin V. The first is localized winds produced by enemies, namely the Puffy Blowhog and Withering Blowhog. Only the Puffy Blowhog's wind is strong enough to blow Pikmin around; the Withering Blowhog's wind will only knock Pikmin over as it deflowers them. The Cometdust Magjay can also create sustained winds as one of its attacks, which are weak enough not to knock over any Pikmin but instead threaten to blow them off of the boss's arena with continual push. Wind gusts are a hazard during windy weather: these gusts are randomly generated around the area experiencing the weather, each having medium width and blowing in a straight line until it runs into something that breaks it, like an obstacle or wall. Orange Pikmin have evolved large feet that allow them to ignore the effects of wind. Purple Pikmin will only avoid being blown away by wind and can still be knocked down.

Wind is an uncommon hazard in Pikmin: Wide World. Purple Pikmin are resistant to it because of their immense weight, and the Wondrous Windbreaker grants leaders total immunity to its effects. Depending on its strength and the distance from those hit by it, wind can push Pikmin around, knock them over, or blow them a distance away, with Winged Pikmin being the most susceptible to it. Wind can also have additional effects, some being unfavorable and one being beneficial. Weather can cause wind to blow throughout an area, causing vegetation and other loose elements to sway in the breeze.

Flourishing Blowhogs blow a green-colored wind that can push Pikmin over and instantly increase their maturities to the flower stage. Poisonous Blowhogs can knock Pikmin over with their purple-colored wind. Puffy Blowhogs can blow Pikmin away, but Puffy Blowlets merely push them around. Withering Blowhogs and Withering Blowlets blow pink-colored wind that reverts the maturities of Pikmin it hits to the leaf stage, and the wind blown by Withering Blowhogs can push Pikmin over while the wind blown by Withering Blowlets merely pushes them around. Lastly, Immaculate Whiskerflies can vigorously flap its wings to generate a gust of wind that pushes Pikmin back.
