Attacks Blows air

The Wavering Blowhog is an enemy appearing in Pikmin: New World. It is an airborne blowhog that blows air in a concentrated area, greatly increasing its strength and range. Because of this, the creature waves its entire body back and forth to allow the spray to cover a large area, hence its name.

The Wavering Blowhog has a bloated, rotund body that is green in color and with a yellow face, and its smooth rear lacks defensive spines, being covered in small red spots instead. Its stiff snout never droops and is a straight tube with a slight funnel at the end. Its eyes resemble those of the Withering Blowhog except larger and bright orange with a single black ring surrounding each of them. The Wavering Blowhog's flippers are smaller in comparison with its body than those of most other airborne blowhog species.

At a distance, the Wavering Blowhog can be a devastating and troublesome foe, as its attack has an incredibly long range and can revert the maturity of Pikmin it hits strongly enough to the leaf stage. Up-close, the Wavering Blowhog is virtually defenseless as it needs a minimum distance from its enemy to be able to blow air at them. The Wavering Blowhog can be defeated by throwing Pikmin at its underside until it flips onto its rear, facing upwards. Additional Pikmin can be thrown onto the creature to weigh it down and force it to the ground. It should be swarmed at this point to inflict the most damage to the creature as well as immobilizing it if enough Pikmin are latched onto it. Using Purple Pikmin to stun the Wavering Blowhog while it is grounded is an effective tactic to delay it from returning to the air. It can be attacked using any Pikmin type, and when it is defeated, it will rapidly deflate. The creature's corpse can be taken for seeds after it lands, and it may drop alongside some pellets or other useful items.

Notes

Olimar's notes

"This species's rounded torso and stiff nasal shaft allow its air blasts to be fired several meters straight forward with only minor dispersal. Its bodily contractions also generate far more of a blast than those of other airborne blowhogs due to its bloated form. These blasts easily have enough power to knock pikmin and other small creatures off of their feet but are too straight to knock over an entire swarm of them at once. Because of this, it must sway its entire body back and forth, putting it at a disadvantage to other species with the same mechanism for defense."

Louie's notes

"Cut its bloated body open using a knife and remove the hydrogen-filled bladder to be emptied and then stuffed full of apple and baked. If the draining process is incomplete or done incorrectly, evacuate the house or restaurant and take cover!"

Sagittarius's notes

"This creature can sometimes be fussy when it comes to feeding time so make sure to only give it what it likes best. Its blasts could knock you straight through your window if it is upset. Thankfully, it doesn't need a special bed as it sleeps aloft. However, it is recommended that its surrounding atmosphere be kept at a tropical temperature overnight to prevent any morning-time grumpiness."

Libra's notes

"Is not as impressive in its hair-styling skills as the puffy blowhog due to its more concentrated and powerful blowing but it makes nail polish set in a snap!"
