The Snow Bulborb is a subspecies of dwarf bulborb. This one, in particular, resembles miniature Hairy Bulborbs without any fur on their back, and so are sometimes also called Dwarf Hairy Bulborbs.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

In Pikmin V, the Snow Bulborb's name becomes more literal, as it now coats its backside in snow in imitation of the Hairy Bulborb's fur. They hunt for food more actively, wandering around the area where they spawn while performing their idle sniffing.

Notes

Brittany's notes

Snow Bulborbs cover themselves in snow in order to mimic the hair on their intended lookalike, the Hairy Bulborb. The blue spots on its backside are specialized to absorb heat, which by result cools the surroundings and creates an anchor for their snow. The main white rump is heavily insulated to protect the body from this cold, and this could result in the evolution of a true ice-wielding Bulborb species. As a side note, their name actually predates all this behavior and originally just referred to their color and habitat, which I find quite humorous.

Olimar's notes

Take it out like you would any other breadbug mimic. Remember to watch your surroundings, as their pale coloration and snow-covered backs can make them hard to spot.

Louie's notes

A little on the bland side, but the carcass is highly resistant to extreme temperatures, making it optimal for long-term storage.

Himadri is the Snow Bulborb that appears in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. Due to being a common encounter in the Chilly Valley, Himadri is likely to be one of the first Awakened residents to join the Diamond Settlement. As a Snow Bulborb, Himadri has a slight level of cold resistance which is greater than that of other Dwarf Bulborbs. This is a useful property to have early on, before many buildings are constructed as protection from the cold, though Himadri doesn't have any useful abilities other than that, with a carry strength of only one and minimal toughness to speak of.

Himadri is chipper and fun, though he tends to be a bit more negative when his friends are missing. Himadri is quite loyal to his friends, whether that be Timmy and Mara, the two other Dwarf Bulborbs with which he formed a team they call "The Gang", or whether that be to his new friends in the settlement once Himadri is Awakened. Himadri also is shown to be quite social and to dislike being alone, as Himadri will become stressed and antsy if he is the only one around because his friends are away on missions or asleep. This anxiety seems to have been intensified by his Awakening, as he was alone for an extended period of time before being Awakened and joining a new group, and he does not seem abnormally anxious during the exploration team's encounter with him as a wild creature.

Himadri originally lived with a group of Hairy Bulborbs for most of his life, but took his leave for his own safety when he realized that the Bulborbs were beginning to suspect that he was not actually one of their own young, due to the fact that he was not growing any hair at all even when most of the other Bulborbs of his size had done so. After leaving this group, Himadri wandered for a time before ending up in the Chilly Valley, where he would go on to meet Mara and Timmy and form a group with them. Some time after this, their team would be split up by a sudden attack from the Arctic Cannon Beetle, the tyrant of the Chilly Valley region. After this, Himadri would remain alone in the Chilly Valley, having to survive on his own until his Awakening during the events of the game, after which he would join the Diamond Settlement residents and eventually become reunited with his teammates once again.

Once the members of The Gang are all awakened and reunited, after a few days have passed, Himadri and the other two Dwarf Bulborbs unlock a special technique that they can use in search missions, which they refer to as "stack formation." This formation has the three Dwarf Bulborbs climb up onto each other's backs and form a tower of Dwarf Bulborbs, with Timmy at the top, Himadri in the middle, and Mara at the bottom. In this state, the three of them act as one cohesive unit, counting as one single creature for the purpose of exploration team size. The Gang's members are also able to use stack formation in battle, all running up to an enemy and biting at once in a combo attack.

Himadri's name translates to "snow mountain", fittingly for a creature native to snowy climates.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This breadbug attempts to mimic the Hairy Bulborb, but can't produce the fur. Hairy Bulborbs dismiss these creatures from being their young, and will occasionally eat them. Other predators, however, don't realize this, and they stay away.

Ship's notes

Looking at this poor, pitiful breadbug just makes me want to yell at hairy bulborbs, "WAKE UP! HE AIN'T ONE OF YOU!", but that may hurt Olimar and my job, so I dare not do so.

Like the Hairy Bulborbs they mimic, Snow Bulborbs appear in Pikmin: Spark. They are similar to other breadbug mimics, but dwell in snowy climates and are slightly more frail in exchange for faster movement. This change was made to make every mimic more distinct.

Notes

Abel's medical journal

The muscles of these creatures could be studied to help make our people faster and more energetic. But I don't want to do that, for ethical reasons.

Lyn's sale review

Want an energetic pet? This creature is for you! Just feed it well and you have a cute companion.

Notes

's notes

Somehow, it seems that these mimics are appearing in several non-cold areas without protection from Hairy Bulborbs. This may provide evidence that the breadbug mimics are getting braver and are trying to protect themselves. However, this may be because Hairy Bulborbs may be going extinct.
