Purple Bulborbs appear in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator as female Red Bulborbs the size of small Emperor Bulblaxes. They are heavy sleepers and so can endure a substantial amount of damage before finally waking up and retaliating. Once awake, they never return to their slumber; they stand in place, constantly looking around for threats. Purple Bulborbs can eat many Pikmin at once by using their large mouths, and upon reaching half-health, periodically roar to summon ravenous Bulborb Larvae from the ground.

The Purple Bulborb, in Pikmin: Rise of the Plantae, is a grub-dog that has a purple rump with yellow spots, and once awakened, will not return to it slumber for the rest of the day. It has the same vitality as a Spotty Bulbear, and, like it, has no limit on how far it will pursue Pikmin and leaders in its range, which is substantially large. The most optimal strategies against a Purple Bulborb are to rush it with a large quantity of Pikmin or to use Purple Pikmin against it.
