There are seventeen obtainable upgrades in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze. The four data chips are required to complete the game; the rest of the upgrades are optional and can be found either as rewards for defeating certain powerful enemies or laying around in hard-to-reach spots.

Data chips

Data chips contain important geographical data, are held by some of the game's bosses, and unlock new areas. The only exceptions are the Unfamiliar Valley, which is the first area, and the Vengeful Thicket, which is discovered by accident after completing a certain objective in the Karst of Gales.

Data chip A

A red chip that is located in the Unfamiliar Valley and grants access to the Roiling Springs.

Data chip B

A blue chip that is located in the Unfamiliar Valley and grants access to the Woods of Occlusion.

Data chip C

A yellow chip that is located in the Woods of Occlusion and grants access to the Karst of Gales.

Data chip D

A green chip that is located in the Roiling Springs and grants access to the Defiled Grounds.

Hazard resistances

These upgrades give leaders immunity to certain hazards, and can be toggled.

Scorch Guard

Grants leaders with fire immunity at the cost of receiving increased damage from ice.

Anti-Electrifier

Makes leaders immune to electricity.

Rush Boots

Increases leaders' speed and protects them from wind-related attacks.

Anti-Corrosion Armor

Makes leaders immune to water.

Insulated Suit

Grants leaders with ice immunity at the cost of receiving increased damage from fire.

Metal Suit Z

Increases damage resistance of leaders.

Others

Assorted whatsits. These can be toggled.

Mega Tweeter

Increases whistle radius, which alerts Pikmin faster. Possessed Pikmin such as Mushroom Pikmin have a higher chance of returning to normal.

Rocket Fist

Increases punching strength.

Paralyzing Punch

Decreases punching strength but may stun enemies momentarily.

Pluckaphone

Allows leaders to pluck buried Pikmin just by whistling.

Napsack

Lets leaders fall asleep. Sleeping leaders will slowly regain their health but are left defenseless until awoken.

Rugged Gloves

Allows leaders to pick up bomb rocks and throw them. This does not grant immunity to explosions, however.

Dodge Whistle

Allows leaders to roll to the side, guiding the Pikmin alongside them.
