Pikmin: Space Race is a fanon game created by MysticTortoise, for the Nintendo Switch. It is a spin-off of the main Pikmin franchise, focused on multiplayer, whether that be cooperative or competitive. The game features many modes returning from Pikmin 2 and 3, albeit some in modified form, as well as brand new gamemodes based around either competitive or cooperative play. While the game features no new Pikmin, all Pikmin from previous games return, including Bulbmin and Spore Pikmin. Each gamemode has it's own map pool, however all maps are based around existing areas in the Pikmin games. Every captain returns and are all playable in game, with minor stat differences. The graphics are rendered in a similar style to Pikmin 3, albeit upgraded due to better hardware and technological advancements. The UI of the game is styled using a mix of the advanced technological feel of Pikmin 3's UI, mixed with a modern minimalist style that uses simpler shapes and colors to represent things, without straying too far into oversimplification, and still retaining the Pikmin style.
Characters
- Olimar - The experienced Hocotatian captain. Olimar's stats are well rounded, with no major upsides or downsides. His unique ability is his strategic nature, which allows his Pikmin to work up to 10% faster the more tasks are being accomplished by different Pikmin groups on the field.
- Louie - Olimar's trusty (and hungry) sidekick, Louie moves faster and throws Pikmin slightly farther, in exchange for a shorter whistle time and a decreased Pikmin throw height. His ability is his cooking ability, which causes Onions to produce 25% more sprouts (capped between 1 and 8 bonus Pikmin)
- The President - The President of Hocotate Freight. He has a faster whistle and a larger whistle radius, along with faster Pikmin Plucking, with the downside of a slower move speed. His ability is his monetary analysis, which lets him earn 5% more points in all modes which use them. In modes that do not utilize any sort of points system, his Pikmin instead carry objects slightly faster.
