The Mockiwi is a round, bird-like creature with a yellow body, a short, wide beak, large brown eyes, and two small vestigial wings. Mockiwis are aggressive creatures that will try to attack prey on sight. They mainly patrol a set path, making clucking sounds as they move about. When they spot Pikmin or a leader, they will give chase. They can also be found sleeping and will begin to patrol once they have been awakened.
Mockiwis can also emerge from holes in walls. They cannot swim and will drown if they fall into water. If a mockiwi cannot reach their prey, they will watch them, screech and snarl, and then walk away. Mockiwis may be large, but they can easily be taken out with any Pikmin type: simply throw Pikmin onto their backs to kill them. Mockiwis will not be able to turn around if the player hits them quickly enough; this can be exploited to take them out without losing any Pikmin.

The Mockiwi is an enemy that appears within Pikmin Z, but only in the PC version of the game, much like the other Mockiwi species.
- diet: small animals
- predators: Barbed Mockiwi
The standard species for the group, the Mockiwi is a bird-like creature found only on Aves Isle in Pikmin Z, and could once fly but has evolved to fill in the niche of the Bulborb predators. Its behavior mirrors that of a Bulborb, and ways to defeat one mirror one as well. It does hunt down a number of prey items, but it does get hunted down by Barbed Mockiwis.
