Mitites are small, pink creatures with white shells and six legs. They can not directly harm Pikmin but do cause any in their vicinity to run in panic, which can inadvertently lead them to danger, such as a hazard. When stumbled upon, they appear in a swarm and start to scuttle around aimlessly, and any that are not killed will eventually burrow underground. Mitites can be released from eggs, burrow out from the ground, or appear from certain enemies. Every creature in the swarm yields nectar when killed.

The Mitite is a returning species of mitite appearing in Pikmin 2... Again?. It is an odd, small creature with six white, pink-tipped legs, a pink body, a white shell, and two beady black eyes. The Mitite mainly appears in groups, either from eggs or the ground. They move quickly but aimlessly, and any Pikmin near a Mitite will panic. Only Purple Pikmin are unaffected by their presence, making them useful for defeating Mitites for not only this reason but also because their pounds will instantly kill all Mitites in range. While themselves harmless, Mitites can indirectly kill the Pikmin they panic if they end up scrambling into hazards or other dangers, so calming affected Pikmin down as soon as possible may minimize potential casualties in an unsafe area. After some moments of making their presence known, the Mitites will burrow into the ground, never to be seen again. A Mitite's body is only worth one seed or Poko, but as they always appear in decently sized groups, hunting them can be worthwhile. They also have a chance of dropping nectar upon defeat.

  • Confirm what Challenge Mode and 2-Player Battle stages Mitites appear in, be it from eggs or the ground.
  • Also, the list of locations in which they are found is really long. Find a way to shorten it.

Notes

Olimar's observations

While not threatening, Mitites can really be a pain without any Purple Pikmin. I never realized on my last trip how much I needed them, since I found the purple so early on. This time, combating them won't be as much of a joke...

As creepy and unsettling as these things are, that shouldn't turn you off from giving them a chance!

In Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds, Mitites may be found in a colony. The entrance to the colony looks like a lump on the ground, and Brown Pikmin can dig at these spots to reveal the colony. It is rare but possible to find tiny eggs, which are in reality Mitite eggs, in place of ordinary eggs, and interacting with them will cause a swarm of Mitites to come up from the ground around it.

Notes

Olimar's notes

It seems that not all mitites lay their eggs inside another species' eggs. Recent observation on the species shows a regular parasick digging in the ground, possibly making a colony. There is much debate over this new discovery, but the scientific community has agreed that there are two main types of parasicks: parasitic parasicks, which lay their eggs inside the eggs of another species, and colonial parasicks, which create an underground colony consisting of several tunnels and chambers. The reason why colonial mitites act the way they do might be because there are no available hosts nearby, and yet need somewhere to lay their eggs. Male mitites will start digging a colony and will create a special chamber where eggs can be laid. As the colony grows, mitites will grow up and go out into the world and lay their eggs. This is the, currently, most accepted theory about colonial mitites. More fieldwork will have to be done to prove this theory. Also, it has been noted that there have been reportedly seen parasicks laying their eggs above ground, and if this reported type of parasick does exist, it could be considered a pseudocolonial parasick.

The Mitite is a returning enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The small creature retains its usual appearance. Mitites can only be found in groups of 10-20, hidden in nectar eggs or from under the ground. If not already spooked out of hiding, Mitite swarms will also unearth themselves if a creature like an Ancient Bulblax or Sovereign Bulblax unleashes a massive roar. They can even fall from above if a heavy collision against a surface happens in an arena, like the Sirehound hitting its head on a boulder. Their presence can send any Pikmin except Purple Pikmin in a panic. They can be killed if a Pikmin is landed on them, or if a Purple Pikmin shockwave hits them.

Returning in Pikmin: New Frontiers, Mitites function the same as they do in Pikmin 2. They sometimes break out of eggs or emerge from the ground in some caves. When active, they cause any nearby Pikmin to panic. When defeated, they have a chance to drop nectar or, rarely, spray.
