The Magmuta is a returning enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It visually resembles its Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator incarnation, with the one notable difference being that it is a dark, near-black blue rather than shadowy black, making it more akin to basalt. It has the aggresion of a Mamuta in Pikmin 2, actively smashing Pikmin into the ground, crushing them. The Magmuta may also rake its fingers across the ground, leaving behind a carpet of flames. Due to its smoldering body, only Red Pikmin could safely attack it. Red Pikmin will also be planted into the ground, rather than crushed to death. When defeated, the Magmuta's flames are extinguished, leaving it safe to carry by all Pikmin types.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “As with most mature Shepiks, the Magmuta actively sows plants. However, due to the intense flames that cloak its body, the Magmuta only cultivates specific extremophiles. One such example is a type of red flower with flame immunities called a "Magmuta Poppy". Red Pikmin are also typically cultivated by this creature. Unfortunately, due to the sparse varirty of botanic life in its habitats, the Magmuta seems to indiscriminately assume that all flora are extremophiles. Due to this, most Pikmin that enter its lair often never come out.”
Louie's notes
- “Inedible. Tastes like chicken... raw chicken.”
Ship's comments
- “This confounded beast is so specialized in what it grows it is physically incapable of growing anything other than the magmuta poppy. What a shame...”

Magmutas are rare relatives of the Mamuta in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator that represent the creature's polar opposite. It looks like a Mamuta made out of burning shadows, with two glowing yellow eyes with no pupils. If it spots any Pikmin nearby, it will walk up to them and slam its claws down on them, smashing the Pikmin to death. It can only be attacked by Red Pikmin due to the fire that engulfs the whole creature. Its smoky appearance strengthens the argument that there is some kind of relation between mamutas and proggs.
