The Large Splurchin is an invincible splurchin and acts more like an obstacle that should be avoided. It can be of two sizes, but both float slowly in a single direction and kill all Pikmin on contact.

The Large Splurchin appears in Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid. It resembles its Hey! Pikmin incarnation but only comes in one size, which is around the size of a Medusal Slurker. Large Splurchins roll around the sea floor, being carried in set directions by the current. They're often situated around ship parts and fruits that must be carried by the Pikmin back to the S.S. Lacewing. When Pikmin carry things in the path of a Large Splurchin, they'll pause and wait for them to pass by. Large Splurchins cannot be killed, stunned, or frozen, and will instantly detonate any explosives they roll into.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Although it does have nerves, the filter-feeding large splurchin has no brains whatsoever. Because of this, it's not reactive towards any external factors and merely tumbles around where the tide takes it. This is in stark contrast to the other, terrestrial splurchins.

Louie's notes

It's like this creature was made to become a delicacy! Peel off the skin and shuck the spines. Boil this creature in a broth mix of cream, butter, Hocotation onions, and potatoes, and finish it off with some crumbled white cheddar. Serve the chowder in a bread bowl.

Bentley's notes

Spiny and constantly rolling... of course, it's like the tumbleweeds of the sea! In that case, make me the deputy keeping these seas in check. Yee-haw!

Eloise's notes

It's so hypnotic watching it roll. I fear this might get in the way of transporting the stuff they're rolling around, but I can also watch from the side. It's not their fault they're in the way.
