The Infernal Emperor Bulblax is a powerful boss the player clashes against in Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds. This mighty foe lurks in the deepest depths of the Burning Gulch, located at the Great Volcano. It wields incredible fire-based attacks, as well as various other attacks, which make it quite dangerous. The beast also has a great amount of health, so it will take a while to best it. When you manage to defeat this giant, it will drop a much-anticipated upgrade: the Pluckaphone. It will reappear in the Chasm of Challenges.
Appearance
The Infernal Emperor Bulblax is the same size as the Emperor Bulblax at the end of Pikmin. Instead of a purple tongue, yellow face/feet and green hide, it has an orange tounge, red face/feet and yellow hide. When it notices the player, its entire body will turn aflame.
Attacks
This flamed-up version of the Emperor Bulblax retains all its attacks from its predecessor, while having unique attacks of its own. Now, it can shoot fireballs at the player, or can cause a flare tornado. When its health goes below 50%, it can start belching up stomach acid in a circle, which will asphyxiate your Pikmin. It may also jump up and down, causing normal and giant bomb-rocks to fall from the sky. If the Bulblax does its superjump attack, which it reserves for below 30% of its health, it will send a shockwave of energy toward you, which will stun you, and the impact will also cause boulders to fall. It may also roar, which summons Flaming Mitites.
Strategy to Defeat
Red Pikmin or Burgundy Pikmin are the player's choice for this battle. As most of the Infernal Emperor Bulblax's attacks are fire-based, these types will be able to get past them. Outside the arena are small bomb-rocks which Yellows can use to stun the Bulblax, and instead of having him eat the bomb-rocks, you must throw your Yellows at a precise spot to stun it. The flames will disappear and you can attack. Even though it has lots of attacks, it is actually quite slow-moving, so try to take advantage of moments when it is not paying attention. If you can manage to dodge the onslaught of attacks, you will be rewarded with the Pluckaphone.
