So this is the cave The President wanted us to inspect... I will admit, I think he's getting a bit too comfortable with just sending us here whenever he finds something new, but at least it's not some big, global journey this time around. Let's just go in, get what we need, and take our leave. – The Ship's observations

Humpback Heights is the first cave in Creature's Quay, and the tutorial cave of Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. This cave takes place in small chambers made out of brownish-yellow sediment. Dried seaweed and kelp occasionally dot the ground, and what appear to be limpets and barnacles cling to the walls. There are no elemental hazards in this cave. The cave is pretty easy and has no boss or mini-boss.

Successfully leaving this cave will prompt a cutscene wherein the Venowraith forces Olimar, Louie, and the Research Pod into the Thicket of Nourishment.

How to reach

The cave can be reached after a dirt gate is torn down. However, as tearing down this dirt gate is a part of the opening tutorial, the day ends after it falls and the cave must be explored on Day 2.

Sublevel 1

The first sublevel of this cave is a fairly large space, shaped like a rounded rectangle. The crew lands in an alcove tucked into one of the walls of the area. There are a couple of rock columns interspersed in the area. The Emerald Blazer is located on a piece of elevated ground, while the Glistening Deathtrap is in the gut of a Dwarf Red Bulborb. The hole to go deeper is in one of the corners.

Sublevel 2

Before this sublevel begins, a cutscene plays where a fork appears in the drop, and the two captains get separated, with Olimar getting the Red Pikmin and Research Pod. Upon landing, the Research Pod makes contact with Louie, who landed in a puddle of a strange, purple liquid on a high ledge. This ledge is too high to throw even Yellow Pikmin over, let alone get back up on. Louie samples the purple fluid and walks off the ledge, finding himself on another with the Perfection Paste on it. This is where the multi-tasking tutorial comes in.

If Olimar walks forward and makes a left turn, he will find the ledge Louie is on. He must throw Pikmin for Louie and then switch to him, Louie must use the Pikmin to carry the Perfection Paste to the Research Pod. The two then reunite and proceed. However, a tunnel further into the area is blocked by a pair of elevator platforms. Both sides are bare, however, so Olimar can walk up onto a ramp and throw Louie onto the raised block. This opens the tunnel to a small chamber with the escape geyser.
