Green Pikmin (緑ピクミン) are a new type of Pikmin introduced in Pikmin 5. These Pikmin have square-shaped heads and bodies and a leafy tail. They have below-average attack strength but above-average digging speed and are resistant to adhesive substances like webs and slime, which they will also attempt to rescue other Pikmin from. Green Pikmin that touch acid, a normally lethal hazard, will simply melt into a mat of jelly on its surface. Their stem and tail will move to their top and bottom sides, linking them together and forming a makeshift bridge across the acid. Dissolved Green Pikmin can be walked on by leaders and other Pikmin, and will leave the acid and reform when whistled.

Green Pikmin are one of the seven types of Pikmin in Pikmin Rebirth, attainable from other their Onion or by converting other types through Emerald Candypops. It, alongside Cyan Pikmin, are the two new types of Pikmin introduced. Unlike the other types, Green Pikmin lack flowers, their maturity represented by clover leaves, with each stage adding a leaf, starting at two and ending at four. These leaves provide the Green Pikmin with increased aerodynamics, however, unlike Yellow Pikmin, which can be thrown higher, Green Pikmin instead drift down slowly. While this trait makes them unideal to attack fast-moving enemies, it improves their accuracy as they actively track enemies, and moving platforms such as lily pads and rafts. Green Pikmin are also immune to the effects of acid, being the only type that can swim in it without being killed instantly. While in the fluid, Green Pikmin can provide captains with a bubble that acts as a shield to protect them from the acid, with a larger army of Green Pikmin providing more protection. Like all Pikmin types, Green Pikmin can also become infused with their respective hazard: in this case, they become Corrosive Pikmin, which can spit acid as a ranged attack that can not only melt steel, stone, and other materials but also ignores the armor or damage resistance of certain enemies, making them the best Pikmin to face such a threat.

When they stand on a puddle of acid, their leaf will glow like a leader's antenna beacon, and when they come in contact with water, they will quickly run back to the surface, with no need to whistle to safety. They are also slightly bigger than other Pikmin and make different sounds.

Notes

Olimar's notes

As it seems, this Pikmin type is resistant to acid. It can resist acid by using the microscopic glands on its trichome-like whiskers to produce sensitive vibrations that can render acid around its body harmless. Other things I've taken note of is that it looks like they're more evolved than other Pikmin types, using its tactics to quickly run out of water and possibly other hazards. I'm starting to feel like this Pikmin type is smarter than me!

The Acid Pikmin is a type of Pikmin that appears in Pikmin: New Frontiers. It is discovered in Mesmerizing Marsh and is the first Pikmin type to be obtained by Olimar. Its stalk is split in two, giving it two leaves that are also serrated, and it has black eyes with white pupils, and a cylindrical mouth. Its leaves become white cone-shaped buds, then white lily-like flowers. Instead of charging when instructed, it stays in place and spits a ball of acid, which is useful for hitting enemies from a distance and destroying metal walls. It has resistance to acid and will slowly deplete most enemies' health when eaten.

Green Pikmin are the final type of Pikmin encountered in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator. They are found aboveground, in the Ancient Wetland. They are the only new Pikmin in the game that have an Onion, which can be reached once Blue Pikmin are discovered. These Pikmin have but one ability, but it is very useful: they can resist acid. Acid is visually distinct from poison since acid appears as a green liquid and poison appears as a red gas. Upon closer examination, Green Pikmin have gills similar to those of Blue Pikmin, but they serve to filter acid when submerged in acid. Green Pikmin cannot survive underwater and will drown when exposed to it.

Green Pikmin are a main Pikmin species in Pikmin: Wide World, and the second to be discovered at Ancient Metalworks. They can withstand acid's corrosive properties. Despite being able to walk in pools of acid without issue, they can not swim or breathe in any substance as they are not adapted for it. Green Pikmin have below-average attack power but with a doubled attack rate, and average mobility, throw range, and digging speed. A Green Pikmin's defining features are its mouth-like facial structure, tail, and white petals. The voice of a Green Pikmin is more gurgly than that of other Pikmin. Although Green Pikmin have their respective Onion, they can also be propagated by throwing other Pikmin into a Demantoid Candypop.

Green Pikmin will attempt to rescue nearby Pikmin that find themselves in a pool of acid and will desert the group to get to them.

Olimar's comments

PWW Captain Olimar icon.png This pikmin evolved from the blue pikmin as a result of genetic mutation. It can survive exposure to corrosive substances and can strike with its tail as well as its stem. Although it retains its mouth-like gills, they are all but useless, and similarly, it no longer has webbing between its fingers and toes to assist in swimming.

Notes

Yoshord's notes

Despite water and life existing, which would indicate that at least some hydrogen ions are floating about, it seems there is only one kind of acid native to the Pikmin Planet: some type of copper solution. The Green Pikmin's skin contains these acids when it is most stable, and this gives it its green color and makes its skin immune to such acids. As with any other liquid, the copper acid can contain gaseous solutes, and the Pikmin has gills, so it can survive being submerged in the copper acid. Green Pikmin are as susceptible to acetic acid as any other Pikmin. This was discovered by accident, of course.
