The Greater Twilight Spectralid is a larger Twilight Spectralid in Pikmin: The Return that has a size rivaling that of the Vehemoth Phosbat's. It is found in its resting position on a wall of the cave or dim tree trunk it inhabits, surrounded by a group of five to fifteen Twilight Spectralids. When disturbed, the Greater Twilight Spectralid will flash brightly, scaring off the Pikmin on it before taking flight and flapping its wings hard to spread its poisonous powder onto them. It will then begin flying around, circling its attackers, but it can be grounded by throwing onto it several Pikmin or two to three Purple Pikmin. Should not enough Pikmin be on the Greater Twilight Spectralid to bring it to the ground, the creature will again spread its poisonous powder onto the Pikmin on it and below it. Once the Greater Twilight Spectralid is successfully brought down, it will squirm on the ground, helpless, before regaining its strength and violently flapping its wings to gain altitude, shake Pikmin off of itself, and whip its powder around itself. It will then attempt to flee, resting on a wall or tree to regain its energy. It may even find locations to rest that are too high up to normally reach, such as the palm trees of Tropical Plains. Attacking the Greater Twilight Spectralid at this point will repeat the cycle. When killed, its corpse will yield twenty Pikmin if given to the Winged Pikmin, or fifteen when given to any other Pikmin.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This huge twilight spectralid is actually much like the empress bulblax, giving birth to many twilight spectralid larvae, which then burrow underground shortly after birth to mature. After they mature, they will guard and protect this spectralid until it moves to another location... It will also give off a dim glow much like its smaller relative, but it can harness this glow to give off a bright flash to scare off predators.

Louie's notes

Inedible. Will cause severe stomach aches... and cramps... just like the little ones do...

Alph's notes

Could this huge spectralid be the leader to the twilight spectralids? It seems like it is, as many other minor varients flock around it protectively...

Ship's notes

This spectralid is huge! We can sell it to the scientists back on Hocotate... but I am still worried about its poison...
