Elixer Pikmin are a species of Pikmin appearing in Pikmin Evolution as the first to be discovered. They have a pair of round yellow eyes and a translucent glassy body that glistens under light, with a leaf that resembles a shard of green stained glass and becomes a larger golden shard as they mature. Most notable is the red liquid core within their bodies. This core acts not only as the Pikmin's heart, which spills out when the main body is shattered, thus killing the Pikmin, but also as a conduit for energy. Elixer Pikmin are undeterred by high temperatures and fire, which only make them more powerful. When they touch fire, they enter an energized state, causing them to glow intensely with orange energy, making them both slightly faster and much stronger. What makes this state most useful, however, is their ability to self-detonate, capable of destroying otherwise unbreakable crystals, after which they will simply revert to their normal state. To counteract their supreme characteristics is their vulnerability to fluids such as water and acid, which they instantly succumb to, disintegrating upon contact. Aside from that major weakness, however, their strong attacking prowess makes them one of the best Pikmin types to use in combat alongside Alloy Pikmin.
