Dwarf Bulbears are enemies that, unlike most others Dwarf Bulborbs which members of the Breadbug family that mimic larger Bulborbs, are true juvenile versions of a larger grub-dog: in this case, the Spotty Bulbear. Dwarf Bulbears are notably tougher and more alert than Dwarf Bulborbs and are known to follow Spotty Bulbears. They do not delay in noticing a Pikmin in their territory and perk up almost instantly when a Pikmin or leader is near.

Some Dwarf Bulbears are found idly sniffing the air instead of the ground. Some Dwarf Bulbears can stand more than one direct hit on the back from a Pikmin, while others instantly die from it. Some Dwarf Bulbears shriek when aggravated to alert any Spotty Bulbears in the vicinity. Some Dwarf Bulbears, to shake off Pikmin, swing their bodies first and then perform a backflip. Others shake off attackers with a simple body-shake.

A Dwarf Bulbear's behavior will change when a Spotty Bulbear is present. Some Spotty Bulbears roam a patrol route in search of food rather than sleeping, and if they come across a pack of Dwarf Bulbears, the dwarves will "yip" and follow the adult. The dwarves' main objective is food, however, and they will stray from a Spotty Bulbear to chase Pikmin or leaders.

Dwarf Bulbears are the juvenile species to the Spotty Bulbear. Unlike the Dwarf Bulborb species, they are true juveniles to their larger relatives, and a group follows the adult around.

The Dwarf Bulbear returns mostly unchanged in Pikmin V. They now wander around the area around where they spawn, a behavior also added to the Snow Bulborb, until a parent Bulbear comes along to follow instead.

Brittany's notes

Unlike the other dwarf grub-dogs, these ones are genuinely the offspring of a Spotty Bulbear. They follow their father around, surrounding prey and then sharing in the prizes.

Olimar's notes

On its own, it's little more challenge than other dwarves because it is still vulnerable to the instant kill technique. Its true danger comes when it decides to trail a grown Bulbear, as it can easily snag your Pikmin while you're focused on the bigger threat. If you can, try and pick them off before confronting the adult.

Louie's notes

Many try to sell this beast as a smaller portion of its parent and raise the cost accordingly, but in reality, it hardly tastes better than a standard Dwarf Red Bulborb.
