Attacks | Crushes Pikmin, shoots missiles, freezes Pikmin |
The Darkfreeze Groink is the second-to-last boss in PikSpore, fought a few sublevels before the final boss. This monster takes the standard Groink design and reconstructs into a tank-like form, with the head surrounded by a ring of armor, trundling about on a pair of heavy-duty treads. This setup allows it to crush Pikmin just by moving over them. The Darkfreeze Groink has traded its explosive mortars for homing missiles, launched out of the beast's mouth. Three in a row are fired every few seconds. These missiles are dangerous but slow-moving and can be used to destroy the boss's armor. Only then can it be damaged by normal attacks. Its armor eventually reappears, however. Lastly, it can also freeze Pikmin by making a sharp U-turn around and kicking up a flurry of ice from the frozen floor. Like most of the minibosses, it does not hold an upgrade treasure.
