The Borealic Blowhog is an enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It resembles a stouter Puffy Blowhog with three blowholes on its sides, faded green and blue stripes, no spines, two deep purple barbels on its trunk, and giant eyes with vibrant pink irises. The Borealic Blowhog floats around a set area, waiting for Pikmin or leaders to come by. When they approach, the Borealic Blowhog will inhale, and then spray a thick cloud of aura over them; no Pikmin is immune to the hazard and will die within seconds of exposure. The Borealic Blowhog takes slightly longer to prepare its breath attack, providing ample time to move out of the way and attack while it's preoccupied. When defeated, the Borealic Blowhog will die in a manner similar to the Puffy Blowhog, however, it will instead rocket away with its aura rapidly exiting from its mouth, forming a trail of what resembles blue fire. After traveling high above the ground, a crackling firework will sound and a visible yet faint blue flash will light up the surrounding environment. The Borealic Blowhog's charred, deflated corpse will then drift to the ground. Like the Puffy Blowhog, Borealic Blowhogs can be found drinking from nearby water bodies while idle.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Amongst the most mysterious members of the blowhog family, Borealic Blowhogs harness an ambiguous energy that reacts especially badly with Pikmin. Whatever this energy is, like if it's radioactive or not, is uncertain. It seems to not be dangerous due to being toxic, as White Pikmin are just as susceptible to it as the rest. For now, we will call the Borealic Blowhog's essence, "aura".”
Louie's notes
- “You would think it has a porky taste due to its lineage, but it actually tastes closer to spiced venison. This could be due to the aura, but regardless, it tastes great when smoked! Even better, it always fries itself after death, so it most certainly has a smokey taste!”
Ship's comments
- “I don't know if that "aura" stuff could falter my machinery in any way, but believe me, I am NOT gonna risk it!”
