The Big Ranger, or the S.S. Ranger is the main ship in Pikmin: The Great Range, and most closely resembles the S.S. Shepherd. It crash lands in The Great Range during the intro of the game. The Big Ranger has many upgrades found throughout the Great Range, mainly because of its crash.

The repair type Bolt is the object that allows the doors of the Big Ranger to work again, as the old bolts on the bulkhead were broken off in the crash. This ship part is not required, although it opens day/night swaps and The Lodge, which is the player's main room in the ship. It can have any small items that can be picked up along the way, and is best for decorating.
The Repair-type Bolt is also the first available ship part in the game, being as it is practically right next to the S.S. Ranger.

The Cognitive Gear is the main engine's lost gear. After it is collected, the player can set a base at any of the three-five base locations in each area. It is also worth 100, just like the Repair-type bolt. This gear can be found behind a partially submerged gate around the impact site.
Portable bases are important for extra storage, animal containment, and other activities, though the general idea is to have a base that you can easily go into or rest at.

The Gravitational Coil is a blue spring. This Coil is crucial for building corral rooves, which make sure that plants drop their materials in corrals and that contained creatures won't be able to jump out of it. (Ones that teleport are not affected by Corral Rooves.)
This Coil is found on the top of a large stump that is being blocked off by a weighted platform, and can only be gotten by throwing Sparky (the Yellow Pikmin) or any other Pikmin with high aerial movement up to it.

The Mainframe Monitor is the captain's computer, which is an essential component of the main ship. This Ship Part unlocks the entire Material Exchange wall, which is one of the main sources of money, or Chilliches. The Mainframe Monitor also unlocks the ability to see achievements in game.
The Mainframe Monitor is based off of Pikmin 1's Analog Computer. It lays within a Porquillion, just like in Pikmin 4. The Porquillion is sitting in a field of Skutterchucks.

The Transmission Capacitor is the main engine's fuel cell. Without it, powering the essential and non-essential tools (Fabricator, Life-form Tank, Stock Exchange wall, Mail, or Heating Systems) would be futile.
The Transmission Capacitor best resembles the Eternal Fuel Dynamo and Positron Generator and it lays on an electric Skittercharge.
