Hey Olimar, let's get on this bug for a free ride! – The ship, upon discovering the Adult Centipare

The Adult Centipare is a returning species of centifly in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They resemble large centipedes with a segmented, light green body and a turquoise head with orange eyes at the front. Numerous wings line the Centipare's body, allowing it to fly. Very small but slightly noticeable feet can be found beneath the Centipare.

Adult Centipares can be found near bouts of elevated land, fluttery gracefully above it. They can even be seen below ground, in caves, where elevated ground is also located. The Centipare will fly from the ledge of the elevated land to the lower ground, where it will lay to rest. While it rests, the Pikmin and captain can get on the creature. The Centipare will wake up and fly to the elevated ground. They constantly travel to and from either point in a cycle, serving as a form of transport for the Pikmin. If airborne enemies are near, they may try to attack the Pikmin riding the Centipare. Weighted Pikmin and Purple Pikmin riding the Centipare will slow down the creature. Frozen Statue Pikmin will also slow down the movement of the Centipare. Winged Pikmin will not affect the weight or space of the Centipare, as they can easily fly above them. If a Bomb Pikmin accidentally detonates on or near a Centipare, it will fly away, and return after thirty seconds.

In Overlord mode, only fifty Pikmin can ride the Centipare at a time, as there isn't as much space for them.

Notes

  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #1: Adult Centipares tend to stop and rest near cliffsides. That's your chance to get your squad on top of one!
  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #2: Heavier Pikmin will slow down a Centipare due to their extreme mass.

Olimar's notes

Once a Centipare matures into an adult, it will venture far from its nest in the deep vegetation to fly into the sky. These creatures will attempt to find mates to lay hundreds of eggs with. Although, not many of the eggs end up making it. They are usually food for numerous creatures, mainly airborne ones like Shearwigs and Snitchbugs.

Louie's notes

Collect numerous of these creatures and cut into very thin, noodle-like strips. Boil in water and add seasoning as you do so. Drain the noodles, but leave some water for broth. Pour insect noodles into a bowl and add a fried egg with lemon for the perfect bug ramen.

President’s notes

Is that free, unpaid labor I hear? If I offer a position to these bugs, they can help me transport my cargo all across Hocotate! If only they could breathe in space...

Overlord’s thoughts

As I was tending to a Breadbug, I witnessed a few Pikmin riding this bug across the sky. The Pikmin may have a dastardly impact on my world, but they’re still living, breathing creatures at the end of the day. If only I could relocate them to an area where they could prosper without harming other animals...
