The Sulfurous Cannon Beetle Larva is a larval lithopod appearing in Pikmin: Elemental Speciation. It has a yellow upper half with purple side dots, eyes and upper markings. its lower body is a light brown, and its mouth and other extremities are light purple. They behave identically to Armored Cannon Beetle Larvae, but instead of spitting boulders, they spit balls of toxic dung. These dung boulders poison all Pikmin that touch them, and trap those that are poison resistant inside similar to the Arctic Cannon Larva. They roll until colliding with an obstacle, such as a wall, corpse, enemy or treasure, causing them to break apart and release any pikmin trapped inside. Enemies that are hit by a Sulfurous Cannon Beetle Larva's dung balls suffer no damage from them.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This species of cannon beetle, instead of firing balls of stone or other materials, collects refuse and toxic materials in a specialized secondary stomach-like organ, which contains bacteria that keep the cannon beetle from suffering ill effects while continuing to foster whatever the toxicity of the materials. This process allows for this lithopod to launch balls of toxic waste matter as self-defense.

Louie's notes

Unsafe to consume without extremely thorough cleaning by an expert. Once cleaned, stew the innards in boiling water until mostly dissolved for an excellent noodle broth or soup stock.

Shacho's notes

The chemicals and structural makeup of this creature's refuse storage organ could provide a way to make completely scent-free garbage bags!
