The Reaching Crawmad is an enemy that first appeared in Pikmin: The Winds of Light.

Appearance

It looks like a Hermit Crawmad with a red body instead of green, and it has an extra mouth that it can grab Pikmin with.

  • Sublevel 2
    • One near the ramp, holding the Crystallized Comet.

Strategy

It can be swarmed, unlike the Hermit Crawmad. Just be careful, as it has quite a reach. If Pikmin are caught by it, then attack the second jaw to release your Pikmin.

Attacks

It attacks by reaching out with its extra mouth.

Crawmad Family

This species of Crawmad has developed a second set of "jaws" that reach out as far as a Hermit Crawmad can reach in one burst. The "jaws" can't actually eat Pikmin, but instead it pulls the catch back in to eat. The Reaching Crawmad rarely leaves its hole, and it has a distinct red body coloring.

Trivia

The Reaching Crawmad is the second enemy that I (EmperorRagingLongLegs) came up with.

"Bignathom" is a very crude scientific name meaning "two mouths". I used a normal dictionary and put together roots to make a word that basically means "two mouths". I have a Latin-to-English Dictionary now, but I still keep the crummy name because it was my second enemy.
